There is something so satisfying about running headfirst into a horde of monsters and knowing that in the end, you'll be standing over a pile of corpses. |
Ok, so, I reinstalled Oblivion the other day to give it another try. Earlier today when doing Glarthir's Paranoia questchain I notice a farmer randomly sneaking in the grape fields. He goes around the stable and steals something from a guy with a plow near the stable. The guy screams "FILTHY PICKPOCKET! WHAT DID YOU TAKE?" and absolutely nothing happens. I even locked the gate so the thief turned around and started talking with the guy that he just stole from. These people are dense.
I'm making a knight-type guy. Named the class Fighter. Armorer Blade Block Conjuration Heavy Armor Merchantile Restoration Imperial and with the Warrior birthsign. Just got full steel equipment, walking 'round the place looking for quests and trying to get more points at Athletics. Say, any ideas on how to make lots of money? |
The Arena makes you a rich man, and its pretty easy too.
So. Why was your character in prison anyways? My character was charged with beating an imperial guard using the corpses of mud crabs as weapons. While naked. |

My guy is in prison due to a misunderstanding involving some alchemy ingredients that happened to be in his bag as he was walking down the street, not selling them to the beggars and being a descriptively good person. Then when the guards decided to chase him, he calmly made his way towards the gates so he could alert the other guards of his presence, which they mistook for him running the hell away. |
Most of my characters have been melee/ranged heavy but I've never really focused on making a pure mage character.
I might pick up the mage class and enjoy some fun. |
My characters are almost always stealth. Whether or not they're ranged/melee tends to differ, but everything's accomplished by being sneaky.
|
And mine simply have swords. Pure melee.
My guy was in prison because he was punching things from the top of a table and then punched someone by mistake. |
My first character was in prison for identity theft. He looked exactly like the Emperor, except maybe a little younger...
And I tend towards a stealth/magic hybrid character. There's nothing as satisfying as turning invisible, casting detect life, and then sneak attacking everyone in the vicinity. |
I generally play a Nord with a custom class that is stealth oriented and has Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, Mysticism, And Restoration as major skills, to maximize leveling potential of course. I then do the Mage's Guild quests and start making my some custom spells. After leveling up alchemy via making thousands of potions of course. Oh and I always make sure to leave the last bit of the Fingers of the Mountain quest until about level 40. The damage of the spell seems to level with you.
As for combat I generally end up in heavy armor sporting a bow enchanted with a transcendent sigil stone to do fire damage and then have ice, lightening, and fire arrows each able to add an additional 20 or so damage. That and max stealth, marksmen, and agility plus chameleon means everything but ogres die in one hit. The Arena quests are darn near boring. In short, "Hello, my name is Sithdarth and I'm addicted to Oblivion." |
I wonder if the emporer ever thought... maybe even for a second...
That trusting random prisoners might NOT be the best idea? |
