Saying Goodbye to People?
So, I work in a call center with a really high turnover rate of employees. I've only been here for four months so far.
Anyway, they just moved me into this weird open cube area a few weeks ago and I sat next to this guy whose last day was on this past Friday. He'd been there about a month or two longer than me, and he was leaving work for school. Nice guy. It was really weird. I didn't know what to say. It's like, "Well, it was nice knowing you. Have a nice life. I'll probably never see you again." :sweatdrop I didn't know him well enough to say, "Hey, it was really nice working with you. Live long and prosper." In the end I decided on "Have fun at school." I don't know, what do you say to workmates/schoolmates you don't know very well that you'll never see again? |
I run away without saying anything. It's a staple of living a life of regrets.

Like, I should say something profound or at least nice to someone I won't ever see again. |

No, really. |
I usually say something like "It's been nice working with you, have a nice year/summer/whatever is coming up." If it's a job that I regularly work at during the summer I say something like "maybe I'll see you next year."
|
"Have a nice life," is actually pretty much what I always say when I know I won't see someone again.

See Scary Movie 3. A good kick in the balls is the perfect way to say goodbye. Cause then they don't miss you when you're gone.
|
"Good luck, maybe I"ll see you around sometime".

Buy a muffin basket. They're always awesome.
