Counter Strike really sucks

Why do people seem to like Counter Strike so much? To the point of people actually liking Counter strike but not having ever played Half-Life

I've tried a few times to like and enjoy this game, but, really... it sucks. On the Benchmark of Low-end online shooters i can think of a few games that beat Counter Strike on pretty much everyfront...

* Castle Wolfenstein - Enemy territory (Which is free)
* Warrock (Which is Free with paid content)
* Combat Arms (Free with paid content)
* Unreal Torunament (Paid)
* Quake 3 Arena (Paid)
* Battlefield 2 (Paid)

Ofcourse, the above only list games that i've played

And yet, somehow, i can find with certain ease people who not only love but aspire to be great in Counter Strike!

So, im not alone in this right?

Counter Strike is made of epic fail. I bought it with a Half Life 2 pack and played it for like ten minutes before just shutting it off. The props do make G-Mod more diverse, though.

So that's something...Right?

Yeah, okay, its not...

I started playing CS in 98 or 99, and I loved it. I still enjoy the game more than most online shooters. I could never get into Halo, I found it too easy, and UT & Quake struck me as insanely overpowered. I liked BFII, but just couldn't get hooked.

I'm really a fan of the teamwork and strategies that make tournament play of CS so much fun. The narrowness of the levels really hooks me in, and keeps me interested in tuning my game and techniques.

How exactly can a game be overpowered? If by this you mean "so damn fast and intense that normal human reactions can't hope to compete", then yes, they are. But that's what makes them great.

This is all a moot point though, because we all know the greatest online game ever is Warhawk.

Bellsouth Minion, being a fellow Brazilian that knows how every single lanhouse has CS being played by at least 70% of it, I have to agree. I've been trying to get my friends into Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield II which is also avaliable at at most lanhouses we go to but to no avail.

The worst part is how most balance bugs and everything ( like having guns shoot where you're actually aiming ) that had to be fixed was fixed in Source. Which is why everyone hates Source.

Yeah, you know what im talking about!!

But i still get perplexed on how people that play CS get to miss on Enemy territory! It's the best Missio Driven Squad Based Online shooter i've ever played! Graphics are okay, maps are Loads of fun, strategy is needed!

My favourite play on that game would have to be playing as Support on the Fueldump map, where you had 20 minutes (or so) to drive or protect an Tank across the map (that the enemy could damage and you would have to repair it) calling Airstrikes along the path, only so that the Tank could blow a hole in the enemy HQ wall, so your squad could go in and Plant a 20 second bom (that needed 10 seconds for setup) on a Fuel Dump that was placed right NEXT to the enemy Spawnpoint

It's absolutly insane and i love it!

Not to mention the Mod Maps like Helms Deep and Toy House (where you play in a actually 2 store house as if your Character was the size of a Toy soldier.)

Plus, there is a Skin mod that turns the Nazi skins into Zombie nazi!

I do enjoy the game, but the rest of the post is in jest.

I enjoy CS:S. Fuck you and your opinions right in their little textual asses. Maybe if you didn't suck so bad you'd like it, too. nub omg

Play Team Fortress 2. In my opinion it's a generally better game and has less of a shithole community attitude.

I could never get into Counterstrike...Why? Because any game that hands the most powerful weapons to the more skilled player is broken in my Opinion. I play it and i say im semi-good but my first 20 or so rounds i couldn't get anything other than a pistol in my weapons unless i managed to kill a guy (in which some one would take me out immediately afterwords DAMN SNIPERS)
Tf2 is the Promise land for New players (in certain classes and servers) Players are nice and kind to new players till the shit hits the fan...and its easy to get distracted...But at times when nether teams want to fight they will (sometimes) do funny things like domino stabs, rocket tennis and Heavy boxing

Demetrius 09-23-2008 11:59 PM

What's your point? A game that is easy to get kills holds no charm. I play the game to knife the fuckers who spend the game spanging people with AWPs. You tale about 20 rounds like its a significant amount of time spent in a game, and honestly I can say you haven't spent any time in the game.

As for TF2, I do like it, but the focus and play is very different from CS. TF2 is more like the original Red Faction (which I enjoyed immensely),I just haven't been able to play much because the video card on my old system would overheat when I'd try to play it for more than 30 minutes (I have yet to install it on my new system).

All in all though, CS has served as a benchmark FPS for nearly a decade, and that's saying something.
