How To Get Into A Bar Without I.D.
Now, I came home... about a week ago, and my dad said "Hey, George - wanna go to Venice?" Now, I said the only logical thing a human being could say when offered a free trip to Venice - "Sure!"
Unfortunately, my parents couldn't organize using their Aeroplane Miles (they were using the miles and paying for my younger sister and I) so we decided to avoid a hassle and hit New York. I'm headed out December 7th to the 14th. Now, my dad was looking forward to showing me about the town - he's been there afore - but I'm not 21. So no drinking. I'm turning 20 on the 14th, the last day we're there, but that doesn't help. So I've got to find a way to get into a bar in the fabled Americas with a BCID stating that I'm legal drinking age in Canadian years. So far I've got: Flashing my boobs Fake Moustache I dun think they'll work too good. Help? |
flashing your hairy boobs?
Sex with the club-entrance guy? john Woo-ing your way in? (Releasing a flock of white doves as you present your fake ID) |
I don't know about New York, but in one town I used to live in they didn't always check at the door. If you got a drink they wouldn't turn you in cause the foul is on them. New York is probably more serious about it though.

Sorry but I am 0 for 0 when it comes to breaking the law.

If you can grow facial hair, it helps. Just act very casual, talk to your dad or whoever while you're walking past the bouncer-dude. Don't be nervous, act like you belong there. When you order drinks, don't have your dad order for you (trust me). Make sure you know what you want, because if they ask you and it looks like you've been put on the spot, you're gonna look suspicious.
DON'T TALK TOO FAST. This is about the worst thing you can do. I'm a couple of years younger that you, so if I can do it, you can too. I get away with hanging out in bars and drinking-not all the time, mind, maybe once a month, but people who know I'm underage ask me what I'm drinking before they realize what they did. It's easier when you're with people who are obviously of age, as well. The best thing you can do is be casual. Don't make a big deal out of it if they won't let you drink. That only makes things worse. [EDIT] Since you're legal in Canada, you might not have any problems at all. And a fake ID is the best thing you can have, but they can be a bitch to get a hold of. |
Oh you guys and your vices, and what you'll do to partake in them.
My mom was a raging alcoholic as a teenager, and her horror stories have scared me straight. Dad never drank, and so he set an example. |
Noncontradictory is actually right on this one. Bars don't have a guy at the door checking IDs. Clubs, yes, but not bars. They will check your ID if you attempt to buy anything with alcohol, as they are required to so by the very strict liquor laws that every state in the union has at this point unless you are clearly a senior citizen. And even then, they may feel compelled to do it anyway.
So yeah, you can totally go into our bars, but you're gonna be stuck drinking Shirley Temples while you're there. |
Yeah, that's a good point, do you really need alcohol that badly? You'll get in just fine.
|
Yeah I don't know how all bars operate but I've never seen one check your ID at the door or anything.
So just like have some apple juice. Also I could have sworn your were twenty four but maybe I'm thinking of someone else. |
Actually, it depends on where you are--there are differing rules as to who can even enter the bar. In Iowa City, for example, it used to be 19 and up to enter, until some old people raised a ruckus because supposedly not all the bars were stringent about checking ID once kids were in and trying to order. Now you have to be of legal age to even to enter, and I'm not sure I've been to a bar in that state where they didn't check your ID at the door.
NYC, not so much. I think you're able to enter under the age of 21 and I don't remember ever being carded at the door, but I don't have a lot of experience with this, honestly, so I may not be the best source of information. If I find out something differently, I'll say so. |
