American Idol=F***ed up
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4649112/
I thought this was a very interesting article about how American Idol is flawed and is making way for terrible singers to overtake talented youngsters. The real problem is the voting system. Any one person may vote as many times as they like from the same phone for two hours. Now I usually loathe all "reality television", but I've been watching this particular show ever since my mom got addicted. What's gotten me all angry is the fact that the two contestants who are undeniably the worst "singers" (the red-head and the one who looks like a hobbit) last week beat out the two or three others who show enormous potential. My mom said it best, "It's just thousands of teeny-boppers voting thousands of times for the 16-year-old cutey." How she saw any "cuteness" in him I have no clue. |
I dont like American Idol either it gets to many people addicted when they can be outside playing with swords or drows or somrthing but alls I'm saying is it can get addictive
|
For some reason, I'm not getting the article when I click the link. Maybe you can C + P the article?
|
Yeah I agree. John Stevens(the 16 yr old redhead) should have been knocked out of the competition 2 weeks ago.
HA! Teeny-boppers. |
I'm more disturbed that people can watch this, be told that there are certain artists they should like, and then like them. I point this out to people who I see watching the show.
"You realize that bad music is being manufactured right before your eyes, right? You realize that you're really not choosing the winner, just another one of the pretty faces to sing meaningless, trite songs, right?" They say that they genuinely like the music or that it's "fun" to vote. That these "People" can arise out of this mentality is a worthy basis for an indictment of the whole nation, or at least Fox. I'm not saying that people are completely and totally sheep, but I don't think that they know what else to be. I don't think that they can honestly like the music of American Idol... it's just... terrible. Stupidly simple and artistly meritless. /Rant over. Note to self: Stop posting on subjects that you know will make you rant like a complete SOB. |
Hmm.. I wonder if I could use an auto dialer to make the worse singer win.
All sillyness aside, I see american idol as a waste of broadcast waves. I don't care about them |
I'm a music major in college, and a voice major at that. It drives me NUTS to see these little talent-free freaks trying to "show their stuff" which is really stuff that should be locked up in solitary confinement.
But you gotta admit, ol' Simon is a RIOT. Simon: "You say you took singing lessons?" Freaknasty "singer": "Yes" Simon: "Well I think the first thing you should do is hire a lawyer and sue the singing teacher." That right there made me a Simon fan Its the job I wish I could have....making fun of those lousy "performers".If only we could change his mind about Britney Spears...... |
Man does Idols suck? Yes it does. It's óne of the worst programs I've ever seen...
|
Heh, I like to watch the first few episodes (with the auditions) so I can see the Simon Blamfest, in which he makes fun of a crapload of talentless people. That's pretty good stuff! Regular American Idol...I havn't watched this season tht much, so I'm not commenting.
World Idol, however...THAT was awe-inspiring. I STILL remember Kurt (the winner) sing U2/Bono's "It's a Beautiful Day." He sang with such feeling, such passion, such sheer talent, that my mom said he outdid Bono himself on that song. If I have to watch a whole ton of crappy stuff to see (and hear) a performance that good, it's worth it. |
I'm going to agree that some of the talent is being picked off that show. I agree that the two guys mentioned shouldn't go on. They really can't sing, I don't mean to be an ass, but you can see it in John's face, "Damn... how is it that I'm still here?"
However, I think it IS a good program because it gives people the chance to show off their hidden talent. Hell, I was thinking of going for it this year, but I didn't have the time, however, expect to see me American Idol 2006! (I won't do it... I'm too much of a Sally...) |
