NPF Reviews; Star Trek; All of it
We've been going through DS9 recently, and I have to say I think it is my favorite of all the shows.
Season 1 is janky like all Season 1 Trek's are, but there are some really good moments which are really good at paving the way for the more awesome seasons. Also we just watched Wrath of Kahn. Which I dunno, I can only be ok with so many movies about William Shatner feeling old and useless. What about you guys? |
I prefer TNG overall.
The Picard Song, as giggly and seemingly off-topic as it might be, is actually in and of itself a decent support for TNG and its greatness.
DS9 annoyed* me with the religious silliness of the Prophets, the various seemingly-stalemates with the Dominion, and the amount of abandoning the station idea to turn it back into a show about a ship and its crew (regardless of how ridiculously powerful said ship may be). And for stealing some TNG crew. And for being the ONLY Trek series in which the doctor character is one I don't care for. * overly-harsh word chosen for dramatic effect. Gasp. |
I think I prefer DS9 the most, it had the best ending of them all. I didn't care for many of the old Star Trek movies, though I did favor the 4th movie the most. The one where they go back in time to save the whales. I didn't care for the original series very much either.
Voyager is alright, I think it might be better then next generation... As for enterprise, I didn't care for it very much... |

Though I'm not a huge Star Trek person, Picard is my hero. He kills aliens and doesn't afraid of anythign. |
No, really, it's called "The Picard Song" for a reason. Christ.
I'm confused, as that's what I wrote.

DS9 was a nice break in formula between TNG and Voyager. I felt they treated the religious issues in the right way - that way being, it caused conflict. I mean, all the culture clashing in TOS, TNG, Voyager and the other one was sorta 'meh' but with the Bajorans it all of a sudden became very real.
By the way, Julian Bashir is awesome becuase he is basically like Bizzaro Kahn. |
What, no love for the animated series?

All I'm saying is that the world would be a much unhappier place if Geordi didn't reverse polarities.

I tried watching that the other day and I nearly gouged my own eyes and ears out. It's like Sealab 2021 without any of the good parts. Anyway, I'm liking DS9 so far (only seen through season 1). It's got a lot of drama for a Star Trek show, but it's a interesting change of pace. I can't pick the best series. Honestly, it just depends on how many hot people are on the main cast. :D |
