Presidential Debate number 2

Today is the day of the next Presidential debate. As a prequel, what issues do you think will be brought up?

Maybe I'm unaware of something, but it seems like all the hard issues have already been covered, so I can't see this debate really venturing into new topics more than it will revise old ones. I'm sure they'll be asked to account for some of the Vice Presidential debate things that were said. Perhaps Obama will react to the ad campaigns that have been thrown against him?

What do you guys think?

It does look like it will be more aggressive than the past debate, but as CNN points out, it usually doesn't go well for whoever is being hostile.

Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to watch it afterwards online since I work until 10pm (Central) tonight. Dammit.

Terex4 10-07-2008 06:10 PM

What time does it come on? I'm on central time.

Harpell 10-07-2008 06:43 PM

8:00 Central time.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the question of 'terrorist connections' will be asked. Other than that, I'm going to bet that it will be very similar to the last one, perhaps with McCain getting more hostile in a last ditch effort to sway voters his way.

Really though, it seems like Obama's got this one locked in, unless some totally unforeseen cataclysm occurs.

I'm pretty sure I can read Obama's mind throughout this whole thing.

"Are you fucking serious." He's kept this WTF? look on his face every time McCain mentions Obama and what he has or hasn't done. Its kinda funny to watch.

So far Obama seems to be much more solid in his attitude than McCain. He's starting his answers without hesitation and showing a great deal of confidence in his responses.

McCain sure is making an effort to say the word "economy" as often as possible though. I guess he doesn't like people saying he's dodging the issue.

Dregnarg 10-07-2008 08:57 PM

Yeah, I would agree. there's a definite look of "WTF" on Obama's face through everything so far.
Well, McCain's definitely going more negative.

Listening to McCain talk about Health Insurance is always funny. I mean sure neither plan will actually work in the big picture sense, but the sheer ignorance on what works and what doesn't of the current plan...

Pretty much this, for me.

Both candidates, to me, have been their usual selves. Which is a good thing for Obama, and bad for McCain. Obama comes across as charismatic and professional. McCain comes off as angry.

Feel kinda sorry for the moderator, though.

EDIT: Also, I might puke if I see another of those McCain banner ads I keep seeing in Discussion.

So I'm not the only one....

Personally, I think Obama's winning this one. Not too sure what to say other than that.

Edit: Honestly.... this is just like watching Phoenix Wright.

I don't think McCain's doing as well as in the last debate my friends.

From a purely style over substance sort of perspective, particularly in comparison to Obama, McCain is almost hard to watch, and all the repetition certainly doesn't help him. Also Obama did a much better job with appeals to the middle class, bringing them up several times at points where McCain wasn't really mentioning them at all.

Sorry about that.

Obama's doing good so far. I'm actually feeling sorry for McCain.
