I'll admit I'm a little hopeful for this to be good:

However, I have a hard time taking it seriously with Simon Pegg and John Cho in the pictures... They'll never be Scotty and Sulu in my head. They'll be comedians.

Well, Leonard Nemoy appears in a cameo supposedly, so... Yeah, maybe?

I love how in the one picture, Spock is Sylar with pointy ears.

I'm a little worried about the story - I mean, it takes place on the Enterprise? But they're cadets? Or what?

I can't decide if having Spock open someone's head up and poke around in their brain would be totally awesome or totally horrible.

Nah, it just takes place on board the Enterprise early on in the five-year mission, shortly after Pike went all Stephen Hawking and Kirk was given command, I think.

I don't know. It all sounds... well it gives me this creepy 'too good to be true vibe', and I'm not sure I care for JJ Abrams attitude towards the franchise - it seems to be all about his communication with Paramount, and nothing to do with Gene Roddenbary or any of the recent cast. I mean, get Frakes in there as a consultant, or at least Berman. Something!
