Krylo 04-13-2004 10:12 PM

IHMN has already said the guy might go nuts/can go crazy just holding normal people etc. It's part of the risk of his power.

And yah... that's part of the reason that I assume people wouldn't let themselves be touched naturally.

Edit: Also, aren't most of SS's characters emotional wrecks?

IHateMakingNames 04-13-2004 10:15 PM

1) My guy can control if he absorbs or not. If he wants to, he can touch some one and not absorb them.

2) SS's guy is almost insane. My guy could absorb him for a little bit, but after a while SS's guy's messed up mind would start to affect my guys mind permenatly.

Dante 04-13-2004 10:16 PM

Could he absorb a life-drainign artifact's powers, or would the artifact drain him instead?

Forever Zero 04-13-2004 10:16 PM

Hmm, a paradox. Which would be absorbed?

Darth SS 04-13-2004 10:16 PM

That would be real awkward right there.

My guy would win. The artifact would drain him at first, but since my guy is touching it he can drain life, so he would drain his own life back, and eventually the artifacts power would weaken until it no longer existed.

Krylo 04-13-2004 10:17 PM

It would be a battle of wills! Blue mage versus artifact! Which will be absorbed!

Or... it would absorb some of his life, but only until he finishes absorbing it's powers...

Forever Zero 04-13-2004 10:19 PM

But what if it was an artifact that absorbed the powers of anyone that touches it? Would they get caught in an infinate feedback loop of draining each other's power? As one drained one's power, the ohter would drain it right back...

Darth SS 04-13-2004 10:20 PM

A better question is....would it matter?

Couldn't he just...let go?

IHateMakingNames 04-13-2004 10:20 PM

Aw, but my guy would have the artifacts draining powers and his original ability of draining which drains the target.

So, Sang's two drains beats the artifacts one drain.

Forever Zero 04-13-2004 10:21 PM

Oh well, if you want to resolve it the easy way...

EDIT to IHMN: But as your drain the artifact's ability to drain powers, it would be draining your ability to drain powers as well. Thus you would both be increasing in draining power equally by draining the other's power.

IHateMakingNames 04-13-2004 10:23 PM

Ah, but my guy can do something the artifact can't, smash the other against a rock.

Forever Zero 04-13-2004 10:24 PM

Alright, that was a lot funnier answer then I expected.

Now imagine this were an artifact sword sticking through your chest and you were the one being smashed against the rock...

And is your drain permanent steal, or is it copy/imprint?

Forever Zero 04-13-2004 10:26 PM

I think he established that it was copy/imprint, and that the effect wears off over time.

And if the Artifact Sword was sticking through his chest, he would have other worries then draining it's powers...

IHateMakingNames 04-13-2004 10:27 PM

It's just a copy.

Let's use Vace as an example.

Sang (My guy) grabs Vace's arm and begins to absorb his powers. Vace will start to feel weak and get tired per second while Sang gets stronger and electricier per second. Once Sang lets go, Vace will slowly begin to recover.

Edit - If it was a sword in his chest, he would have to leave it there since him taking it's life sucking ability then using it back on himself would be the only thing keeping him alive.

Dante 04-13-2004 10:27 PM

True, so in that case, IHMn would be drained by the artifact at the same time as he was stealing the artifact's pwoer, but who knows what the artifact does? Maybe it just dissipates the drained life, or channels it somewhere...

It would probably be better to drain until he learned the abiltiy,t hen let go, then go prey on SS or something.

Squishy Cheeks 04-13-2004 10:29 PM

Yes well Meth has a spell for Meat vision. Fear the meaty death that flies from his eyes.

I'll use my Meat vision to bury Vace in a mountain of sausage.

Truce 04-13-2004 10:30 PM

I don't see how absorbing Truce's memories or traits would get him the shield...

Anyway, it's not like Sangsue will just bump into a person and suddenly get all that person's memories. It'll take at least a couple seconds to get information from that person.

1. How did everyone get one a "Use Vace as an example" kick?

2. What does "Meat Vision" actually do? Sounds like the most bizarre spell I've never heard of...

Darth SS 04-13-2004 10:31 PM

It's raining dead pigs! RAINING THEM I SAY!

Haven't you ever seen "The Fairly Godparents"? Well, the dad gets turned into a superhero, but instead of "heat vision" he gets "meat vision" and that turns anything into sides of meat.... like a hot dog.

I really doubt JAD will use that ability... right?

Truce 04-13-2004 10:36 PM

I'd expect meat vision to see only meat...which would basically mean that you see blobs of flesh everywhere.

Or maybe sausages shoot out from the eyes?

Squishy Cheeks 04-13-2004 10:36 PM

It's like heat vision only instead of making a beam of heat, it makes meat appear.

I've seen a few episodes of it, but not many, and I must have missed that one.

If you think Jad wouldn't use that spell, then you must not know him very well...

CelesJessa 04-13-2004 10:38 PM

And rightwhatwasIdoing: your character looks alright, but know that your character might not ever find what he's looking for, since it's not planned out in the course of the RP thus far yet.

EDIT: well, I don't want anyone turning the face worms into sausage links. ^^ heh.

Well, we need never worry about food again... What kind of meat is it?

Squishy Cheeks 04-13-2004 10:47 PM

It creates meat, it doesn't change things into meat. And whatever kind of meat. Incidently it's the only spell Meth has memorized. Being as how his diet consists of mostly bacon.

Darth SS 04-13-2004 10:59 PM

That is pure genius

"Chow on this youngin'!"

Dr DR 04-14-2004 05:49 AM

Hmmm... even in IHMN tried to use his ability on my fella' the effects would be fairly remedial. I mean... he'd be able to absorb the talent, and possibly a number of the runes from memory, but still the scope he'd have to do runecrafting would be extremely limited.

Zweihander 04-14-2004 08:06 AM

OK, let’s try this:

Name: Vult (although he likes to add on pretentious nicknames)

Age: Early twenties, like 23.

Appearance: A dark grey hooded coat, ending just above his knees. Wears the hood over his face most of the time. Dark leather pants, boots, and a tunic. He wears two sheaths on his thighs, much like a gunslinger from the Old West has his gun holsters. He’s got an average build and height, with brown hair and dark green eyes. The only other striking aspect is a long scar running from his cheek to the top of his head.

Class: Rogue. :thief:

Equipment: A pair of long knives; not quite as long as a short sword, but bigger than a dagger. His only other item of interest is a small silver medallion, with an onyx stone inlaid in the medal. He originally thought that it was simply his family heirloom, but a botched job involving an insane wizard proved otherwise. The medallion gives him a mild defense against magic, but he’d rather not test its full strength.

Bio: Although his accent is recognized as from the Prontera area, he refuses to talk about his past or even go near his hometown, choosing instead to curse and mutter under his breath. He works in Fayon as a mercenary, bounty hunter, and whatever else people will pay him to do. He has his scruples though; he refuses any job involving kidnapping or slavery (unless it’s to kill the slave traders).

He is rather paranoid of strangers, but friendly to people he knows well. Although he comes off as cold and unemotional, he is just as emotional as everyone else. He isn’t a fan of ‘destiny’ or ‘prophecies’, which is odd in Midgard, since the popular belief is that fate is inescapable and must be followed. As such, he may not like Fenris too much, and can relate to Truce’s predicament.

He is currently tailing the party led by the heir to Fayon, although he doesn’t seem interested in killing them….

Quote: “Fate is for those too weak to chose their own path.”

Notes: As a Rogue, he has no real ‘techniques’ or spells; aside from a sneak attack, being very stealthy, and picking locks. NOT a meat shield, since he lacks armor and tends to dodge attacks. He’s still a good person to have in a fight, having trained heavily in combat. Strangely, his style seems reminiscent of the Royal Knights of Midgard.

Extra notes: Expect a ‘side story’ if the party ever makes it to Prontera, aka the biggest city in the land.

shiney 04-14-2004 08:26 AM

If I were to ever join an RP on nuklearpower, it would be this one, and I would want to be either an obeaune or an Isis.

Boobies!

Ok, don't let this get you guys off topic. Sorry.

Dr DR 04-14-2004 08:53 AM

So many pages while I sleep. CURSE YOU TIME DIFFERENCE!

Squishy Cheeks 04-14-2004 09:16 AM

We have another N00b influx.

Dr DR 04-14-2004 09:22 AM

There's only one extra person. Hardly an influx.

Forever Zero 04-14-2004 11:56 AM

Two people new to RPing actually. Not an influx, but also out of the ordinary, although both of them seem like they will be good at RPing, which is very out of the ordinary.... Oh, and we even got the interest of shiney, which boads well for this RP.

Darth SS 04-14-2004 12:04 PM

So, I'll get baking a cake.

When this starts, we will have fluffy chocolate goodness.

Forever Zero 04-14-2004 12:19 PM

... What does that have to do with anything?

Squishy Cheeks 04-14-2004 12:23 PM

Don't make me meat you FZ

Forever Zero 04-14-2004 12:58 PM

Hah, I'll just zap your meats to well done with my Lightning powers, and be eating meat for weeks.

IHateMakingNames 04-14-2004 01:18 PM

I give them three days before they give up and leave, or just leave.

Edit - Oh, and my guy now has an iron bar for a weapon.

CelesJessa 04-14-2004 01:36 PM

No fair. I have a "half day" so they call it, and some of you still get here before I do... curses.

Well, I guess I'll work on the first chapter now.

And Zweihandler, you character sounds alright, but the "side-story" you speak of should be run by me first.

Forever Zero 04-14-2004 01:45 PM

Hey, this is my Spring Break, so when I wake up at 1:00 PM, I don't have anything better to do so I'm on here for the most part, or playing a game in the background.

Dr DR 04-14-2004 01:46 PM

I'm experiencing what we Brits call "Easter Holidays". Thus I have lots of time. Lots. Except after midnight... when I have none.

IHateMakingNames 04-14-2004 01:58 PM

A half day and you on at 2:30 (Or 1:30, don't know what time zone your in)?

Forever Zero 04-14-2004 01:59 PM

Well its earlier then normal, normally she gets on at about 6 or 8 PM...

CelesJessa 04-14-2004 02:23 PM

About 1:30.

I usually get home from school at about 3:20, so it was more of 1/3 of a day instead of a half-day.
Anyhoo. I'm almost done with the first post.

Repost: (accedentally deleted it at first ^^; )
Should I make chapter titles? Or just leave them "Chapter 1"?

Forever Zero 04-14-2004 02:24 PM

Just "Chapter 1" works in my book.

lazy man 04-14-2004 02:25 PM

I don't care, as usual.

CelesJessa 04-14-2004 02:28 PM

Discussion thread for the RP has been created. ^^ so move all discussions or questions there. ^^ heh.
