North Korea set to make "special announcement"

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Wor...00810315123891

If the polling function was still enabled I think I would be using it now. So what's this announcement going to be? Has Kim Jong-Il bought the farm? Will there be a change of government? How will this affect North Korea, and its relations with the world?

It's a tough call. It could really go either way, but I doubt it will be good news. It seems to me that North Korea is rapidly becoming the most backward nation in a world full of globalization and foreign reliance. They are isolating themselves and censoring any information about themselves from the rest of the world. I doubt we'll see a huge change in relations with North Korea, as even without Kim Jong Il at the head of the country, it's likely his successor will be just about as secretive and xenophobic as Kim.

It will be interesitng...

I just hope the "announcement" doesn't come in the form of a mushroom cloud on American soil.

Not that it would be any worse than one anywhere else, but looking at it this way, the world hates the US and North Korea probably hates the US about as much as it probably hates South Korea, so, yeah. At least with SK, the US has less of a reason to say, "OH! You have one? Hey, why don't you TAKE A DOZEN OF OURS!? :bmage: "

i dont want to be "that guy", but talking about something that we dont have any idea of what cant be dosent seem so much "discussion". Maybe it wont be even after they reveal whatever it is

the headline reads

Quote:

North Korea is set to make an "important announcement" on Monday amid speculation over the health of its leader Kim Jong-Il, a Japanese newspaper has reported.
So it's probably related to the guy's health. Maybe someone is taking his place, or they are just going to say his health is better than ever, to try and cause some positive impact somehow

If it is in the form of aggression on South Korea, that will significantly change the political climate.... Except for the next month because from what I know, Bush hasn't had the prerogative to actually keep tabs on North Korea.

Jagos 10-19-2008 11:12 PM

He has kept tabs. But he's kept it more towards NK, SK, China, and Japan within the loop in terms of talks.

Here is what the announcement will be.

"Our beloved Leader is in perfect health and want to thank you personally for believing in him. Isn't our Leader special?"

Kerensky287 10-20-2008 11:40 AM

"The government of North Korea would now like to reveal that our great Leader's sickness was due to radiation poisoning. He has now completely recovered - and in fact, has super powers! The strength of the great Kim Jong-Il's eye lasers will reflect in the strength of the great North Korea, and all will bow before us!

That is all."

But really, a special announcement about his health? What could that possibly be other than "Feelin' fine," or "Feelin' GREAT"?

Guess the news wasn't about Kim at all, but a national food shortage.

And hey, let's ban long distance cell phone calls. That can only solve the problem!

I find it funny sad also that they have spies inflitrating religious groups. That must make people paranoid...
