Recession Leading To Great Deals?

Has anyone else experienced this? I feel almost guilty somehow.

Gas prices are (comparatively) lower, obviously, but I was in Sears the other day and got 2 pairs of 60-70 dollar shoes for 4.99 a piece (they were each marked 9.99 but they also had a buy one get one free deal going on at the same time). This and a pair of Reeboks. I'm not sure what Lugz brand is, I never heard of them, but since they seem to be 50-60 bucks normally I'll put them in the New Balance range of quality.

I mean, I've found cheap quality shoes before, but to find two size 14 pairs at that cheap a price...it's almost too good to be true. Normally I'd pay at least 30 dollars for each of those.

Has anyone else found the recession working like this? Do you think it's a bad thing even though it feels good? Has anyone else ran into deals like this?

That seems isolated but I'd love to find some good deals

Gas over here was over $4. It's now under $3 and falling.

I really haven't noticed other stuff being cheaper, but then I'm not really a big consumer.

Actually, food prices are still up around here.

Area's forced to lower their prices could turn into giant homeless shelters. Jonathan Frakes knows our future!

I haven't really been in any place like Sears since I relocated, but I can say the northwest has expensive food costs compared to the upper midwest. I don't know what a deal is anymore because my sense of what things should cost has been shaken up pretty badly.

Time to go shopping. :D

That, and the fact that there's gas at 3 and dropping. All is right in the world.

It was $2.38 here yesterday.

Not to be a party pooper, but surely this also means some people are getting paid a lot less? That money has to come from somewhere.

Oh no, Gas Companies just make ridiculous profits that even halving their prices still grosses them a huge gain. I guess a couple of Exxon's CEOs won't get their bonus that approximates over 500% of their actual salary. Maybe only 450%, the horrors!

That and people have been cutting back on their gas use entirely because of the prices (and the coming recession), so the good ol' oil barons are trying to get their penny's worth before people are suddenly out a lot of jobs and money.

Certain foods have been dropping at the local Kroger around here.

In fact, I happen to be gulping down a rather cheap bottle of Gatorade!
