Bikke Pronounciation

What do you guys prefer? "Bikk" or "Bike" or what? Let me know!

The reason I ask is because his arrival his drawing near on my tribute series I showed off her about half a year ago - http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...2ADFEAAB4D21A0

Please don't be put off by earlier episodes, things pick up a bit later - better acting, better editing and such like.

I always have pronounced it "bee kay" but I think the official pronuncation in 8-bit land is "bike" as in bicycle.

From what I remember about writing vs. pronunciation it would just about have to be something like

"bick-ey"

with a short "i"; no pause where the dash is, I just used it to define the "ey" sound. It might also be just "bick." "Bike" I'm not too sure about, the double k practically forces the i to be short. I guess you could say "bike" and just stress the "k" really hard.

"bick-ey" as Meister said should be the correct pronounciation based on its spelling as far as I'm aware.

I always thought it was "Bick" myself, what with the two K's, as you said. But 'bick-ey' could maybe work.

I do beleve this has been asked before, and on the Christmas Flash where Bikke does the into, he says it like "Bike"

Found the thread.

Thanks, I didn't realise ;^^

It always annoyed me that it was 'Bike'. That doesn't seem right at all, from English pronunciation or Japanese pronunciation standpoint.

Yeah me too. Bikk that is. Like ick.

Satan's Onion 11-07-2008 02:49 AM

I know it doesn't particularly matter to the comic, but what cemented it for me was seeing the pirates in FF (Dawn of Souls) call themselves "Bikkeneers", which said to me that (a) the name ought to be pronounced like "bike" and (b) that was one of the lamest group names I've ever seen.
