Ragnarok: Chapter 1

"The winds of fate are strong and a great storm will descend upon the land. The world is awakening from a 1000 year slumber; many great powers long-forgotten are returning. Soon, a new master will rule over Midgard..."

The girl looked around nervously, half-a-dozen frost giants stood between her and her goal. Then, beyond the frost giants stood another enemy she had to defeat. <This is not good.> she though, sliding her knife out from it's leather sheath. She knew the knife wasn't enough to take down even one giant, but she didn't intend to use the knife against her enemies.

She only had one chance...

Raising her hand to the blade, she didn't even wince as she made a long, deep cut across her palm. She closed her eyes and began reciting the incantation as her blood dripped onto the ground around her...

Iris Irine smiled happily as she felt the wind whip through her hair. She didn't get a chance to be out of Fayon very often, so she relished how free she was feeling at the moment.

It had taken a bit of sweet talking to get her parents to let her come all the way out here, even though she was being watched carefully. Actually... it was more convincing on her father's part. Her mother 'encouraged' her journey here to find the Face Worms, having gone through vigorous training herself when she was young... but her father... well... He is strong too, in his own right... but Iris is kind of a daddy's girl... as her mother would always say "No father in Midgard loves his daughter as much as he does."

"It's hard to imagine that Face Worms could be infesting these beautiful lands." Iris said, looking out at the grasslands, "I haven't seen one yet. Maybe we won't get that 5,000 Zeny reward if none show up." Zeny didn't really matter to her, but she wanted to see a Face Worm. She didn't even have a clue what one looked like.

(OOC: introduce your character (and what their doing if you aren't with the group from Fayon at the moment.)

Meth was leaning against his staff. He was snoring loudly. A snot bubble was coming out of his nose. His blue robes with purple trim hung loosely on his withered body. A large leather single strap sack ran along across his body. In the bag was an obscenely large, leather and wood bound tome. The book alone had to easilly way 20 pounds.

Vace looked at the grasslands around him, and the free space for miles in every direction. He gave a peaceful sigh, and continued to walk down the path. He had been traveling for a long time since the old days, helping random villages, aiding kings and queens in their quests, and going about his own buisness. But that was his calling, he mused, to always wander, because there was always more to see. The town beyond the next hill, or the city beyond the forest, or the new lands beyond the next mountain range, it was his calling to wander them forever and see as mnay as could be seen in one lifetime.

He wondered what this land was called? He hadn't encountered any villages or people for quite some time, and his supplies were running low. He pulled a bit of jerky from his green traveling bag he carried and chewed it, knowing it would hold off hunger for now, and he continued to go down the path, his mind wandering as the boredom of travel set in as usual.

Dart walked along at the rear of the group. He wasn't up to talking and just felt like sitting down. He had just walked for a full day before now and didn't feel like walking for another few hours. He groaned in his head, but showed no signs of exhaustionon on his face. The clinking his black chain mail and sword were the only noises coming from him, other than his heavy footsteps. He was also getting extremely hungry, which eventually prompted him to say something, for once. "Does anyone have something to eat?" he asked.

Keylek walked at the front of the group. As a ranger, his place was in a position where his services would be of use. He had been hired by the girl's father to make sure she did not go off course, from the look of her though, she probably didn't need it. He scowled slightly. The weather was too warm, and the snow was lacking, he favoured the tundra above this tepid warmth. Instinctively he watched the group, hunched slightly, watching for tracks, as was his business. Shame that he would have little opportunity for hunting this trip, still he needed the money.

Meth fell over with a thud. This however did not stop his snoring, but it did pop his snot bubble.

Holy crap, this is gonna be difficult.

Vult was standing outside the city walls, and could barely see the figures in the distance. He was supposed to follow them without really being seen, but he didn't know that they were heading out here!

"Damn grasslands." It would be near impossible to hide. A few trees dotted the landscape, and he was already far behind. If he stopped to make a camoflauge blanket, then he'd lose them. If he just walked up and introduced himself, either the brat's guards would slice him up, or he'd violate the contract with his employer. Come to think of it...

She didn't pay up front, so he had nothing to lose, except time. Why the hell not? I'll need some help if those damned Face-Worms attacked, anyway. He began walking leisurely towards the group, and prayed to Odin that the woman wouldn't care.

"Shut up, I am not an idiot!" Sangsue yelled to the person who kept calling him an idiot. However, anyone could see that Sangsue was alone as he walked through the plains.

After a moment of silence, Sang started to talk again. "I know I have been an idiot in the past, but I have stopped doing those things long ago. I am not longer the idiot you once knew, so stop calling me one!"

Anyone in range of Sangs yells would hear no response from anyone before Sang spoke again. "Stupid thief..." He muttered to himself, shaking his head.

Keylek looked up, and then behind him. He turned to Iris.

"Milady. I believe that someone is following us."

Indeed walking towards the group was a mysterious looking man.

"Who is that idiot yelling?"
Jerick woke abruptly from his hidden slumber, grabbed his spear from the grass, and walked into the open winds. on either side of him there were people; he didnt like people much, too many were too annoying. On one side there was a small group, on the other, a person yelling about not being an idiot any longer.
"Looks like i wont be getting sleep if i dont shut this guy up..." he sighed and walked briskly to the one screaming
