It seemed like the whole point of SotC was to fight amazingly giant colossi. At least for most people that was the point, and I don't think those people missed the mark. It was an amazing game either way.
But TDK points out something great. You don't need to have tons of dialogue or cutscenes to have an epic story. One of the great parts of SotC was that you played the story. Most games today think they need to add a big story to get everyone interested, but what ends up happening is that they have the gameplay on one side, and the convoluted story told through poorly written and mostly unbelievable dialogue on the other (even games with an interesting premise get crap for dialogue). And sometimes that works.
SotC on the other hand did have an epic story, and it told it in an Epic way for a game...it let the players play it. But it didn't force the story onto anyone who just wanted to play.
Oh, and back to the game at hand, It looks really cool. The idea of a city on the back of a beast could turn out great. I side with Ryong, the addition of a poor dialogue heavy and nonsenseical story will probably be one of the weak points.
