Oh, no. Now you know you've opened a can of worms.

I would advise that you divorce yourself from caring about the movie. I haven't even started the pitch, much less gotten any studios to look at it, and in any case I can 100% guarantee you it'd resemble the 8BT you know about as much as Ice Age does. It wouldn't even share the same title.

Fortune Zero 12-03-2008 12:55 PM

Nah, I'm just saying. I give it like, two hours before you get a tsunami of WILL THAR STILL BE HADOCANS OR I WONT SEE IT?????

Meister 12-03-2008 12:59 PM

The question isn't whether there would be hadokens but how yellow and spiky would the studio want Black Mage's hair to get when he's doing one.

You know I can't think of a single recent kid movie centered around fantasy. I think I'd watch a well-made one.

I started to think about it, and quickly stopped when I heard Black Mage sound like Mike Myers.

And Red Mage sound like Eddie Murphy.

For instance, it would have to be aimed at kids to have any hope of getting made and would therefore lose a lot of the weirder/more morbid bits that make it so much fun. And the main characters would eventually learn to like each other. There's no way to get it done if that doesn't happen. So beyond the basic skeleton of fantasy heroes ill-equipped for the task ahead of them, it'd be completely different. But them's the compromises you make in the real world.

Well... at least it sells... i mean...

Never seen a single minute of Avatar, but everyone tells me it's a fun little show.

And apparently full of puns. That might just be the NPF Avatar threads, though.

It's a basic skeleton of fantasy heroes ill-equipped for the task ahead of them that's aimed at kids, And the main characters eventually learn to like each other. It's also dipped in overall Asian Mythology and deals with the elements of Earth, wind, Fire and water and their representations are mirrored over the main characters and their personalities.

... it's final fantasy for kids, really...

It's 4 seasons long, has a few videogames and now a movie by james cameron... so, yeah, the idea sells.

God, I'm such a lurker and I never really come out except for things like this but...

It's 3 seasons long and M. Night is making the live action movie. James Cameron is just making a movie called Avatar, I have no idea what it is about though.

Side note of content: If your 8BT movie is anything like Avatar, I will be there . With bells on.
