Fate/Stay Night Sign-up
Even in the 21st century, still magic remains. Practiced in secrete, hidden from all, but even in such times great rituals are performed. None as great as the summoning for the Holy Grail. A legendary artifact said to grant anyone any wish. The ritual does more then summon the grail, seven masters are choosen to summon seven servants and only when one servant remains does the grail manifest.
The servants are heroic spirits, heros from the past of legendary ability. Normally summoning one would be foolish, for no magus could hope to control such a spirit. To accomplish this the master is given three command seals. Each commands absolute obedience. No matter what the command the servant must obey and the master could on a whim command "kill yourself". This isn't normally done for obvious reasons. The familar also tends to obey their master. Only the command spells completely control them, but they can also be useful. An order of "defeat this enemy" greatly empowers the servant. Orders like "appear before me" or "retreat to our base" can also allow the servant to transcend space and teleport. When the last seal is gone the contract of master and servant ends and they must seek out new allies. Typically a servant kills their former master so they wont have to worry about them in the future. A master with no servant isn't much of a threat, and a servant with no master cant stay in this world for long. Plus only a magus can use the grail, and only a servant can touch it. Fortunately a servant can find a new master, and a master can ally with an errant servant. Servants have a variety of skills and abilities, but none greater then their noble phantasm. A weapon (mount, shield, whatever) that is as legendary as the hero. By calling out its name they may activate the weapon. This is risky as well. Every hero fell, revealing the noble phatasm reveals who the heroic spirit is as well as all their strengths and weaknesses. To help avoid this, and ease their summoning, a servant is summoned into each of these seven classes Lancer Archer Rider Saber Caster Berserker Assassin For obvious reasons a heroic spirit must fit the class they are in. A servant that cant do magic cant be Caster for example. Each class also has the following bonus abilities The knight classes, lancer, archer, and saber all have atleast some level of magic resistance. Archer has the lowest, but also gains independent action that enables them to last longer without a master and avoid barriers that would otherwise block a servant. Rider is able to ride just about any beast, demonic or otherwise. Caster is able to construct temples (temple as in a place that naturally syphons magic energy and defence barriers, not a physical structure) and tool construction. Assassin is able to conceal their presence, as servants can detect other servants if they are near. With berserker possessing madness, losing his reason but becoming more powerful, note incase this isn't clear berserkers have no reason and are little more then trained attack dogs at all times. These abilities do not belong solely to these classes. If Rider was a hero with magic resistance in life then Rider will still have it. These are merely tendencies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Each player will make a public and secrete character. The public one will be the master. The secrete one will be the servent, which will be sent to me via PM. If one dies, then they are allowed to find a new partner. Say player A's master was slain. Then as long as they find a new master within a given time they can make a new contract. Master Name: Age: Gender: Appearance: Proffesion: Bio: Wish: Command Seal: (starts at 3, is reduced after each use) Servant Class: Name: Gender: Allignment: (hero is a general term. Chaotic Evil is perfectly ok) Appearance: Bio: (not as needed, but I atleast want a summary) Wish: Abilities: Skills: (this depends too much on the hero for me to give general rules) Noble Phantasm: (be sure to include what it does) The following classes are still available Archer Rider Berserker Assassin You may not reserve one. Its first come first serve. As a final note. Heroic spirits are spirits, thus can be in spirit form as to avoid drawing attention. [edit] I almost forgot. Alot will be done through PMs. It will be a day/night system, only masters actions will be obvious, what the servant is doing and where will be hidden unless someone else finds out about it. You may try to find allies, set up ambushes, spy on your enemy, or confront them in head-to-head combat. Do keep in mind besides the command seals on the left arm its difficult to tell for certain if someone is a master. |
Master
Name: Timothy Domovoi Age: 27 Gender: Male Appearance: Usually dressed up in a suit for his job, black beard and short black hair over a sort of gaunt face. Just slightly above average in height. Proffesion: Junior lawyer at a corporate law firm. Bio: Timothy (born Timofey, goes by Tim) is a second generation Russian-American, choosing a career in law so that he could be as far away from his family's run down pawn shop as possible. Not that he hated such a life, but coping with the vagaries of the city and having to deal with his mother's ramblings about the Old Country's mysticism quickly wore away at any reserves of childish exuberance he might have had. Being a lawyer was actually going pretty well until some sort of great-uncle from back home died, naming Tim as the sole heir of a ratty book no one knew anything about. And things were still pretty normal until Tim began to study the book. And then Tim decided one drunken night to see if all those gibberish words and doodles actually meant anything... Wish: Currently, he's trying to piece together where his normal life experience and this new world of magic actually make sense before he even bothers to think about a possible endgame. Command Seal: (3?) Some questions that I might be the only one having trouble getting: Quote:

But you cannot form a contract with the same servant twice specifically to avoid that event Quote:

Name: Edward the Black Age: 650 Gender: Male Appearance: 195cm of grizzled warrior, Edward is the embodiment of everything one would expect of a 14th century British knight. Broad shoulders and a barrel chest set upon legs thick as oaks, Edward is a man of considerable physical strength, even in his old age. Dark hair shot with gray and brown eyes set in a square face, the jaw covered in a thick beard similarly colored. His body has the appearance of a fit 50 year old gentleman, though his true age is considerably greater. Profession: Former knight and Prince of Wales, now he travels around the country as an independent entrepreneur owning and investing in numerous countries around the world. Bio: Raised as the crown Prince of England during the 100 Years War, Edward was a brilliant military leader who struck fear into the hearts of the French. Sometime during the fighting he struck upon a long abandoned castle. Shortly after he was presumed slain in battle and disappeared from the annals of history. Though no concrete evidence exists, there have been numerous sightings of a gentleman eerily similar to the few remaining paintings of Edward. Suffice to say he yet lives, and what he discovered in those long forgotten ruins has shown him the path to true victory for England: Hegemony. Wish: British conquest of continental Europe. Command Seal: 3 Is this okay? I sort of assumed having him preserve himself through magical means would be in keeping with the RP's universe. If that's not okay I can change it, just let me know please. :D |
It is not without a significant drawback. Even mere life extension is high level magic and would come at great cause. But there isn't really any reason I see for him to be centuries old. You dont have to be from the hundred year war to wish for your country to reign supreme
Oh and before I forget, remember ultimately servants are still spirits. Even stabbing their heart isn't instantly fatal, although it is still a mortal wound that would put you out of a fight. Their bodies are vastly more resilient. |
Hmm, something I didn't think about now, but what is the magic from the master side set up like? I kind of worded the book vaguely so that Tim could either be a guy with magic genes or just the recipient of a "How To Do Magic" book because I wasn't sure what the proper protocol was going to be. Is MHF's rune-longevity thing the normal way things are done, or do words and gestures and rituals make up a hodgepodge of ways we get to choose from? Will masters be on the same level as a servant, or are they forced into hiding in the wings and hoping that the horse they're betting on comes out on top?

Masters are never at the level of servants. They are naturally faster and stronger, with higher magic capacity, greater skills, legendary weapons, and vastly more experience. Not to mention the fact they are spirits makes most injures more like flesh wounds. As a rule it is unwise for a master to fight a servant, though nothing says a master cannot fight another master or that a master cannot provide support, though that depends on magic resistance. Most magic wont do much against the knight classes.
On the topic of magic. It is something passed down the family line. Families tend to have specific areas of focus such as binding or storing magic. Individuals are born with more specific focuses such as air or strengthening magic. As a rule magic of any form takes time requiring incantations, concentration, ect. To bypass this families give crests that have low level spells stored in them that can be used instantly. Again most servants aren't too bothered by this, but it is useful against humans. Nothing says night night like a curse to the back of the head. Oh yea and a few ways to break the contract of master and servant. Make them use their command seals, kill one of them, or they lose the command seals. How do they lose the command seals? Give you a hint, its always on the left arm |
Here we go. After a long break from the forum I'm back. I hope this kicks off, I really like the concept.
Master Name: Richard Kross Age: 32 Gender: Male Appearance: Richard is tall and thin but still manages to hold an imposing posture. His bright blue eyes are capable of a piercing stare that his handful of subordinates have come to fear. He has black hair tied into a pony tail that reaches the nape of his neck and a perfectly trimmed black goatee. He normally wear’s a long-sleeved red dress shirt tucked into black pants, and ending his attire with polished black shoes. Profession: The proprietor of a large antique store called creatively named Kross Antiques. Bio: Richard is the only child of a rather unique family that prides itself in the collection of all things old and forgotten. The Kross family sees themselves as historians, collectors, and keepers of traditions. Growing up Richard was subject to a mix of various traditions from all sorts of cultures, giving him a fascination for the old ways but also an annoyance with the mundane peculiarities of each culture’s traditions. However, his family’s devotion to the past is what gave Richard the chance to change things. On his 30th birthday, Richard’s father taught him the old ways of siphoning energy from the world around him which would allow him to strengthen his body and mind. After two years of training Richard discovered an ancient text in his shop’s storage room that spoke of the Holy Grail, and the rituals necessary to summon a servant. After much researching Richard decided to give it a shot with a single goal in mind. Wish: To send the world back into more primitive times with his ideas and beliefs predominating over all others. Command Seal: 3 |
