I'll admit it. Sephiroth randomly posing for the camera as Cloud is consumed in the flames of an exploding star behind him made me laugh.

EDIT:
Yeah, that's the stuff.

Soooo happy that they cut down on Sephiroth's Super Nova animation.

Not so happy that they are using Advent Children One Winged Angel Sephiroth instead of Safer (Sepher?) Sephiroth. I must say, however, that One Winged Angel (the song) is really good, despite its overhypeness through the last decade.

EDIT: Yootoob'd for those with slow connection. Rehosted!

Dang, that was fast. xD

Try this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8raiVQDk45U&fmt=18

EDIT: Did anyone notice that, during the battle, he leveled up with certain accessories? It seems there are parts of the battle system that still haven't been explained. Some summons also create an effect that lasts for a certain amount of time... = O

EDIT2: Rips!

I like this version of OWA (the song not Character)

It is a throwback to the orignal OWA from FF7 which in my mind, is the best version (followed by Crisis Core's rendition)

edit for below:

Ironically, I find the AC version the weakest of the three.

And Reunion Tracks of Aeris Theme, I am intrigued.

I hate the Crisis Core rendition. I felt it took away all of the tension from the song and transformed it into an upbeat and clownish interpretation more suitable for Kefka. Curiously enough, my favourite is the Black Mages' one, from Advent Children. :p

The version on this one comes from Final Fantasy VII: Reunion Tracks, which was a compilation of some of the songs in the game plus three arrangements. I found the CD to be pretty boring (I do not think FFVII has many good tracks), but Aeris' Theme, Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII and One Winged Angel are marvelous.

And unless my ears deceive me, I'm pretty sure the Advent Children version is merely the Reunion Tracks recording with the Black Mages tracks mixed in later. They are definitely both the best two versions of the song though, in my opinion.

Speaking of the Black Mages, they don't seem to be anywhere near the soundtrack so far, which I find relieving. I've always found their FFVI renditions to be terribly disappointing and too far removed from the spirit of the original context. The obvious exception being Dancing Mad, in which case they stay too close to the original context, even going so far as to have most of it just being SNES tracks.

Still, the final movement mostly makes up for it.

The Black Mages' rendition (titled Advent: One Winged Angel) has in fact different lyrics than the original.

Have you heard Darkness and Starlight, their rendition of The Dream Oath: Maria and Draco? It's a rock opera reminiscent of those from the seventies. I think it's their best work yet. Fifteen minutes of pure badarsery, although it was surprising to hear Maria's and Draco's voice for the first second time (they reuse the same actors from Voices of Final Fantasy).

My only complaint is that it doesn't feature Grand Finale?, probably because it's the complete original play, meaning Ultros doesn't shit on the party.

Hm. I'm pretty sure the orchestral tracks are the same, so it's possible that they may have replaced the choral tracks as well as adding the RAWK.

I have and it's pretty good, though I prefer the live orchestral version. Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that Aria de Mezzo Carattere would be used as background music in a fighting game, and so my concern is primarily the possibility that S-E will just get lazy and throw the Black Mages versions of the Battle and Decisive Battle themes onto the game and call it a day, which would just make me all kinds of sad.

Now, if they are going to get lazy about it, I'd much rather see them go with this over its Black Mages counterpart.
