Awesome Bassists and the Fans Who Appreciate Them

Satan's Onion, your friendly neighborhood moderator here! Even though this started out as a post from a spammer, I didn't want to inadvertently punish those folks who posted in this thread in good faith (that is, before finding out this was just part of a spam dump). So instead of deleting the original thread, which would've deleted everyone else's posts, I'm gonna just edit the living hell out of this one so's you can keep discussing everything.

So, I put it to you all: Which bassists out there in the vast and diverse world of music particularly tickle your fancy?

Arif Mirabdolbaghi

Cliff Burton

Sometimes I'm down with this Allan Eason guy. Unfortunately, he took his fucking myspace down so i can't listen.

Matt Freeman
Les Claypool
Victor Wooten

Mondt already said Cliff Burton, so I'll throw John Myung into the ring.

I wholeheartedly agree and insert that the awesome of Myung somewhat balances out my totally irrational hate for the vocalist of Dream Theater.

Rob Wright. Three links!

Nick Avila of Powerglove.

No good videos of him, but he's great.

Lucky is a pretty awesome bassist. But maybe that's just me.

Two words:

Jaco Pastorius.

Youtube fails at truly capturing his sound very well, but I'll see if I can find a way to let y'all sample my favorite recordings of him and his band.

I like Rush's bassist and Muse's bassist, but I don't recall their names at the moment. Muse mostly gets the nomination for the awesome bass in Hysteria.
