Super Turbo HD Remix thread of 1080p Hadokens

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, one of the greatest fighting games ever, has gotten a glorious, 1080p HD remake. It's rebalanced, remixed and lovingly redrawn for the HD generation. Want changes? Here's some of the best:

-Hitbox mode so you know exactly how moves hit.
-Ability to use the old sprites and music if you want to.
-Double-blind character selection for online so people don't spend ages at the character select screen trying to counterpick you.
-Guile's manly voice is back.
-Includes both classic Super Turbo and Remixed ST.

And those aren't all the changes. Want to know EVERYTHING? Head here: http://www.sirlin.net/sf

Sirlin was the driving force behind this project, along with various ST pros, refining the characters until they were all forces to be reckoned with. NOt only that, SF HD now has the best netcode ever seen in a commercial fighting game thanks to Ponder, creator of GGPO's consulting with Backbone Entertainment, the makers of this.

Release date: Out now everywhere but on the Europe PSN, $15/1200 MS points.

SF2:HDRemix would be a hojillion times better if I wasn't stuck on that shitty 360 controller.

I've been trying to play MK V DC and Battle Fantasia and Soul Calibur 4 on that thing for ages now and it's always painfully hard.

Do yourself a favour and grab the Hori EX2 stick. It's about $40 or so and well worth it if you hate the terrible D-Pad on the controller.

Mirai Gen 11-26-2008 02:49 PM

Probably will eventually but I've always been a D-pad man myself.

You should see my Johnny game in GGXX.

EDIT: HOLY CRAP I never realized how annoying Chun Li was.

I'm liking that they improved Cammy. She used to suck all that was ass, and now she killed me as the first match of my Arcade mode run. Awesome.

Not on Wiiware? Man, more reasons to save for that PS3. :(

- Hit boxes lie like fucking rugs. They don't function properly and are in fact a shitty overlay on your character- turning them on in training mode (Classic Arcade) with Akuma and you'll see what I mean. the entire hit box moves to an unstrikeable vantage point for anyone but Dhalsim when performing a red hadoken. Hit boxes also don't always show where the true strike zone is- they tend to be off by up to a chun-li Shin. (That's how I measured it, anyway. Chun Li's leg thickness at ankle is how far off they are on average.)
- Old sprites and music; didn't they just release that on the PS2, and have it available for $15 too?
- Just pick Zangief and hammer spinning lariat, it counters almost every hit and deals more damage then you take in return. Zangief horribly overpowered in this one btw.
-Guile thinks women should be family men. Nuff said.
-Non-turbo (Super Street Fighter 2) is horribly broken still and they didn't bother to correct it whatsoever. Every glitch and mistake from the ORIGINAL SSF2 is still there.

I don't think I missed any of your points.

It's not a purchase I'll be making from the capcom store. It may be a solid title for someone who's a big, big fan of it, but after playing the same game and so many renditions of it, and the total LACK of give-a-shit that they had for this title with Street fighter 4 on the way? I'll spend the $15 on a preorder.

EDIT: You know I'll just mention it now but for any of the NOT quick attacks (Square/X) on Dhalsim you just can't hit anyone who's within any kind of normal punch range. If they get that close you're going to get fucked up. The hit boxes move THROUGH you to empty space behind the enemy.

Also if you time a hadoken just right, you can throw your hadoken THROUGH another person's, taking damage but launching one straight back and not taking stun/knockback.

Are there any good pro videos out already? I'm more interested in watching matches than playing them when it comes to SFII.

The hitbox mode is pretty awful, yeah. For basic stuff like Hadoken or some combos it's nice but they just stuck a big red box over any area that your appendage exits your 'blue' box and went, eh, alright, that should be good.

I was warned about this but I've been tampering around with it, seems like good fun provided you want to stay absolutely in 100% SF2 mode. Problem is the game seems to have been re-balanced, but they tipped the scales again. Cammy sucks severely less but now Chun Li is annoying as all hell (especially with the AI) and yeah, Zangeif's special is pretty horrible. Seems like it's easier to throw too.

Don't have much else to say yet, still tampering around.

It's just a novelty thing, completely optional. The backgrounds remain in HD however.

Last I checked you can jump and hit him out of it, or hit him with a low. Not my fault he keeps going through your fireballs :p

This version isn't at all included in HD Remix so I don't know what you're talking about.

If that's the case, then keep them away from you. Dhalsim has those big long range normals for a reason you know :)

Eh, I did hear there were some odd bugs. I'll have this by Friday so I'll be able to see for myself.

It is, you just haven't realized it yet.

Play Classic Arcade, it gives a Blue 'turbo' option and a brown 'non-turbo' option.

Unless they realized that classic arcade non-turbo was horribly broken and axed it on the way out the door.

<< I removed this line because it violates my contract. >>

I will say that FUCK YOU BLANKA YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHARGE YOUR ATTACKS WHEN YOU'RE THE NPC BUT WHEN I PLAY YOU I HAVE TO CHARGE FOR A FULL SECOND YOU SON OF A BITCH.

^ Repeat that for everyone but Chun li. >.> PS Chun Li is hax, holding the super my ass.

Edit: Oh, and except for Chun Li, Vega, and Cammy you can't jumpkick Zangief out of it- it still strikes the stupid spin, unless you time the jump flawlessly.

Low attacks -do- hit, but spinning Lariat gives a second of invincibility, which lets you ghost through it if you can hammer it just right.
