Fun with Epic Spellcasting

So, I was bored in my physics class after finishing a test, and so without anything better to do, designed an epic spell to turn a character into a comic book super hero. I didn't include the DC modifiers, but I don't intend on ever using it. If it strikes your fancy and you're an epic spellcaster, figure it out.

Seeds: energy, fortify (+1 Str), fortify (+1 Dex), fortify (+1 Con), reveal, telekenesis*(levetation), Ward (damage reduction 5/slashing)
Factors: bestow energy bolt as a spell like ability, make spell like ability a supernatural ability (ad hoc), change bolt into ray, increase strength to +20, increase Dex to +15, increase Con to +10, allow levetator to fly on its own will*, ward against all three types, increase damage reduction to 20/-.
Mitigating Factors: Weakness (see text) (ad hoc), experiance, ritual, etc...

This spell transforms a normal character into a superhero. The creature is given vast bonuses to physical scores, laser and X-ray vision, and the ability to fly.

However, there is a weakness. For every round spent in contact with a substance designated at casting, he must make a fortitude save or take 1d4 temporary strength, dextarity, and constitution damage, and must for that round take a will save in order to move or act. Any melee attack made during the weakened state will result in an attack of opportunity. However, this substance may be made as rare as the caster wishes.

... what? I was bored?

*This was an innovation of my DM. you'll have to talk it over with yours, but chances are if he'd even allow you to use this spell in the first place, he'd be congenial enough to allow you to make a seed/factor for it.

Bah, I created a spell that would DESTROY THE WORLD!!! Well, it's somewhere on the threads, so look for it...

Wasn't that one in relation to one of the Hulking Hurler threads where everyone was deciding things like how much HP the world had and all that?

My DM and I also cooked up a spell to conjur an astroid collision. Had to tone it down a little, since technically being exalted as well as epic, I'm not supposed to have any collatteral damage. It's always a nice bargaining chip though.

How would that work? I would think it would take one powerful exercising of the Telekinesis ability.

Just create 500'000 tons of rock 400 miles above the Earth, and let gravity take over. And yes, that spell was about disintegrating the Earth.

Actually, in its end version, it didn't take very much at all. basically, I conjur a 20 foot sphere of adamantine, teleport it into orbit, and then only use the telekenisis to steer it towards its destination. it actually doesn't take much weight to blast a city-sized crater. For a larger spell, telekenisis would hardly be necessary, but a hell of a lot of conjurgation would be. Apparently there's something on the Wizards site which will give you the specifics of a meteor impact, which is what he used.

60-odd cubic feet of Adamantine... For some reason I find it hard to believe that a mass like that could make a city-size crater...

The denser the substance, the greater the impact, correct?

RangerAidan 04-15-2004 05:22 PM

Well, the denser the substance, the greater the mass per square meter, and therefore the greater the force. I'm not sure about how focused or unfocused it has to be, though.
