Boring filler is boring

Can't say as I blame you. I'd be putting my sprite comic on the backburner if I were writing real comics and such, too. Still, the humor really kind of up and vanished.

Suppose the end is nigh, at any rate.

Le sigh...

Stop whining.

Yes, that's good. Berate me for doing exactly what you did a few weeks ago in a different forum. Bravo.

Let me restructure my original comment, here...

Regardless of Clevinger's schedule or priorities, it is my opinion that the comic has been of poor quality recently. Discuss.

This is like one of the 5 posts I've ever made in this section.

I must say that "x is x" is the one of the most retarded things the Internet has ever decided to keep doing.

Mondt 12-04-2008 07:16 PM

Well yeah.

The guy who gets busted for drugs and learns from it is going to go tell his buddies who do drugs to stop doing drugs.

I've actually found a few of the recent... arc's (if you can call it that) have funnier jokes than I had seen in a while in 8-bit. It's not one of my favorite comics, but it keeps me reading. Though the whole "Abso-fucking-lutely nothing is happening at all" is started to get dull but eh, I figure it'll end in the next couple of comics.

Bells 12-04-2008 07:20 PM

The stories are still enjoyable, the text is more direct (some of the earlier comics were filled with wall text that just.. gruh!) and maybe there are few new jokes and more usual jokes, but it's the end run... it's more than normal really... and still, it's far from bad

I agree completely. I do, however, find that it falls specifically under the 'retarded internet thing that is somehow vaguely amusing if used in an ironic fashion' umbrella.

This is pretty much what I'm talking about. It's been getting to the point where I'm not sure I care enough to follow it through to the ending, honestly, which I hate to admit because I've been a casual fan for a long time.

I suppose I could just quit reading and then check up on it in a couple months and see how things played out.

11 posts? Did you join come back just to moan about this? I mean, I personally have found the latest "fighter fighting himself" arc fillerish, and haven't exactly been enthralled by it, but I wouldn't make a stupid thread like this.

"I THINK BRIAN IS DOING A SHIT JOB" is not a valid topic of discussion at all. Criticism is great and all, but I think we would all prefer good criticism, rather than your "the comic sucks now, lol discuss" post, which doesn't read like criticism so much as you just being a douche right after joining coming back to the forum. I'm surprised this hasn't been locked yet.

Anyway, 8 bit theatre has always dragged on story arcs to varying degrees of success. I suppose it is filler, but the purpose of it never feels like just to stretch out the comic, just that Brian came up with something he thinks would be funny or character appropriate in the current arc and made another strip, without necessarily paying too much mind to pacing.

Train wrecks, while a terrible thing, are entertaining to watch.

This is no exception.

Mondt 12-04-2008 07:34 PM

Well, Fen, I was hoping that maybe this train wreck might turn into a discussion of the comic in its current form (not fit for an episode thread) as people see it. Because one guy didn't give a good description for his criticism doesn't mean anyone else can't go "Well I think it has been going downhill because of this" or "I am enjoying the comic a lot lately because of this"

Instead we got trolling.
