Magus against Black Mage
I was just wondering. Magus rules, and so does BM, and they both excel in magic and power. i was just wondering who other people think would claim victory, and how, if possible.
|
NO more of these. Please. This is gonnatake over the world.

Magus. Spekkio, the god of war himself, admitted that Magus could 'teach him a thing or two' about magic... and Spekkio gifted magic to everyone else. On the other hand... Black mage IS a nexus point of magical power... but Magus may be the same, as that he's the only person who had magical powers without drawing on Lavos or having them granted. I'm pitiful for not being able to resist replying... |
Black Mage is incompetent. Magus would win in a second.

Magus rather than specializing in magic uses a big weapon(scythe I think), thus lowering how good a skill he might have. Sure he specialized, but its not good enough to match Bm. Bm may have chosen a knife but since it is weak: he had more time to develop his magic skill. Bm gets a boost duye to possibly have a nexus of magic within him. Magus doesn't have a nexus just got lucky and was born in high society, no pun lol. Magus's people were natually gifted that is how he learned, but not nexus-like Bm toasts Magus 9 times outta ten, with a margin of error of 1. |
my personal opinion:
mechanics:8Bit gives :BMAGE: an edge, even with him being incompetent, so :BMAGE: personalities:Magus ownz here, that is mechanics aside, Magus has cooler spells and cooler personality and if somehow both run out of energy, he has the better physical training to rely on |
I dislike Magus, but my initial love for Black Mage has been dampened by no further insights into his character and any possible depth to it. Brian has a habit of hinting around the edges of character development without actually furthering them at all.
So my vote's for Magus, for the sheer reason that his dynamic is one of eternal change and adaptability. BM has two tricks: explosive spells and stabbity death. Janus, on the other hand, is versed in all four of the rudimentary magics of his home world, which translates into superior versatility, which as Red Mage could tell you will win the day fairly quickly. Add that to his ability to raise a Magic Wall around himself, and you have a difficult fight for a magic-user to win. Plus, if we're going by the rules of 8BT, Black Mage can only cast each of his spells once a day, and he doesn't have as many as Janus. Once BM runs out of Hadokens, Janus's scythe or leftover spells can finish him off. Sorry, Brian. I take these things way too seriously. |
Black Mage is painfully stupid for all that he mocks the stupidity of others. Magus learned magic, travelled through time, raised himself a huge kingdom/army by persuading the many mystics to follow him, changed his appearance by magic (which it is clear BM can't do) and did lots of other stuff which frankly marks him down as being just a wee bit brighter. The point about BM having lots of types of magics is also flawed. Magus has access to Fire, Water, Lightning and Shadow, BM only has Fire, Lightning and Hadoken (as far as we know). Magus can additionally fly, and use weapons. Also consider that Magus (on his own) is technically capable of beating Lavos, which is a creature which managed to destroy an entire technologically advanced world, complete presumably with many armies, missiles and the like, thus making Magus more powerful. BM, while enthusiastic, isn't quite up to the same level. Heck he couldn't destroy the entire world as it is in the comic, let alone a futuristic one. Magus wins clearly.
|
Normally I wouldn't...
Magus has a purpose and determination. His only goal is to destroy Lavos, and I don't think he'd let anything stand in his way. BM would likely stop attacking him to gloat, but Magus will fight for as long as he's alive. |
