Hideaki Anno endings?
I'm sort of disappointed by Brian continuing the comic, but was there ever a possibility of Hideaki Anno endings, where, like the Evangelion movie, there would be an alternative and progressively more obnoxious ending than the actual ending?
Perhaps Brian could make it a thing, you know, like a progressive series of increasingly horrible and disturbing endings? |
So you want 8eon bitesis theatergelion?
|
At the end is there a scene with an ocean of blood and Chaos crucified in the background with Fighter strangling Black Mage on a beach?

I was expecting something like that, yeah.
I actually made a big list of alternate endings, from the big bad arriving, only for him to trip and fall on a sharp rock and die, to a dream sequence where Black Mage reconsiders himself and his worth, conversing with his memories of people he's met and interacted with. Also one where they all get giant robots and attack the sun, the true villain. Or don't. And become godlike or something. And that Chaos and Order are merely shackles of the True Order that binds them or something. And Satan's the good guy. Dante has a guest cameo. Or Fighter fuses with the orb of fire, and flies away with Bahamut, only to appear to his descendants rarely during important moments of their lives. Thief, now an old elf, is forced back into the thieving world yet again to defeat the evil doctor guy from his past, who has bonded Drizz'l to his left arm and threatens to use the world's mana against itself. Using special Elfencamo (if he covers up his ears, no one will know he's an elf!) technology.... Cozma had summoned a Light Warrior to oppose Chaos's Garland...and she chose Red Mage! Who, wearing his beastly armor of min/max, not only fights amongst fellow champions, but also against Black Mage's former whipping boy: Onion Knight! Our heroes save the day, but just after they save the world and become infamous, Princess Sara's tyrannical grandson known only as The Emperor seeks to rule the world, and four young rebels set out to join the fight against him. 8 bit theater...2. But I think we already had our Hideaki Anno ending. Let us be thankful the comic continues! |
What are all those from, Pyros? I recognize MGS, but a couple others sound familiar.

I think the problem is that by this point none of us care enough about the characters that Brian could mutilate and torture his characters for sadistic effect. Brian, as he said in today's op-ed, failed in pranking his readers because there was no dramatic flow to 8-bit Theater. If he were to torture his characters, since the comic is essentially all about torturing black mage, none of us would be really surprised.
Meh. I think the only shocking thing I could still envision regarding 8-bit Theater would be for Fighter to get killed. Fighter, for all his stupidity, is the closest we have to a lovable character. Maybe Fighter will die in a gory bloodbath by the end of the year. |
torturing black mage, you had me at that point. let's have more of that.
fighter is too stupid to die, his INT is in the negative, which glitches the universe into giving him infinite HP. there was a time he could have been mortal, when he was speaking supersmart, but bm broke his brain because it would have eventually happened anyway. he was likely right. my guess is, if fighter dies, it'll probably be in the STUPIDEST way possible, like how that guy from MASH died, they found out later about his helicopter or something. fighter's stupidity is so deep it could rip a hole in space and time, so maybe he vanishes through that when going to the bathroom or something. or he kills himself in another "deathmatch" lol no, seriously, I half expected him to kill himself in a sneak attack of himself. I wonder what's going on with sarda and the other teams |
As a ridiculously big Evangelion fag, I'll readily admit one of the first things to come to mind when confronted with the false end was "LOL Eva." It makes me happy to know I wasn't the only one who thought it.
But seriously. I mean, consider it. A strange and abrupt ending that left tons of questions unanswered? Said ending is delivered in a very abstract, nihilistic fashion that concludes with a character realizing everything was a lie/a dream? :| I think that pretty much sums up the end of the actual series... the only difference is that Brian didn't draw the comic in marker. Well that and that Brian actually planned to continue the series and wasn't forced into it by fans throwing tantrums like Anno was. :|a I think it's very interesting to consider what different routes the story could take, were it to branch off. Looking at it from different perspectives and all that. |
