So Who's playing Final Fantasy XI?
I am just installing the trial, and was curious if any NPF'ers (haha that sounds insulting) were currently playing. Might be nice to get to know some of your characters, maybe play if anyone can tolerate a noob.

I would love to ride in on my e-Stallion and help you like the shining e-Paladin that I am, unfortunately I no longer play the game and even if I did the chance of being on the same server would be quite small.
Have you ever played the game before? I would say that the game is great for the first 20 or so levels....then you hit a giant wall of grinding and forced party etiquette which I didn't find very fun...plus everything feels like it's in slow mo! Just to let you know in advanced, but seeing as you're on a trial you may find this out yourself. I can probably give you a bit of advice on starting out though, as I enjoyed playing the lower levels much more than the higher ones, when everything was new and wonderful and the three main cities seemed like an adventure in itself to navigate between. Edit: Enjoy your 6 hour update time before you can even start playing, probably a good idea that you've started recruiting now! |
Whoa, there's a trial? Because I've been meaning to play since forever but don't have the time to get addicted to an MMO right now. I have a copy of the game and everything.
I don't know much about the game, though. |
Yeah there's a $1.99 trial disc. Maybe see if a local video game store has some?
|
I might start up a new character to chill with you if you're interested. I quit playing because I had nobody to party with.

I think the server you're put on is randomized unless you get a special invite from someone on a server and other convolutions.
|
Oh god it's... it's so confusing.
I spent 15 min figuring out how to move. Also, wheres the menu? How do i adjust setting? Apparently it requires a 10-key pad? Are there any shortcuts? Maybe I'm just tired and cant think straight but I am having an exceedingly difficult time understanding this game. |
FF11 was designed for a PS2 controller, and they didn't have the sense to redesign the interface for the people who play on the PC.

Also another tip is to turn on Hardware Acceleration for the mouse tip in the configuration, it will make the mouse actually usable for clicking buttons for non creature targeting, as I remember that being pretty bad as mentioned before it was made for the console also so the entire game can be played via non clickable menus. Edit: Useful link! |
I actually changed the configuration to "Compact" so you could be able to move with the classic "ASDW" keys. Other features were easy accessible this way too, but I don'0t remember anymore. (It's been a while). Just press the "-" key and the menu should show up, and start playing with it for a while; you should never be using the mouse again.
