Left 4 Dead or Fable 2

I am not sure which would be the better buy. I like both types of games, and both give me an addictive vibe. But not sure which is the better choice. Action-RPGs are easily 40+ hours of gameplay with replayability, but online multiplayer games are pure replayability. Games like Left 4 Dead can be a gamble though. You could get hundreds of hours of playtime, or you could tire of it within a week or two. Especially since Left 4 Dead is rather new and its hard to say if it can last the long haul.

Rent!

I don't know.. I plowed through Fable 2 while doing a majority of the side quests in about a weekend. Not too long of a game if you ask me. And Left 4 Deads single player is pretty short itself, it has the multiplayer, which can't be too bad since it's made by valve. I would lean for L4D myself, but it's still all about you.

I suppose you could compare Fable 2 and Left 4 Dead to hearing a knock on your door to find either Patrick Stewart at your door with a wax candle in one arm and your favourite Christmas story tucked beneath the other or you open the door to find the Marx Brothers with a copy of Rock Band with them.

Even though they will offer quite different experiences, you're going to have heap amounts of fun regardless.

Left 4 Dead would be a lot of sustainable fun if you also have friends who play it; also expect expansions/a modding scene for new levels to sustain your interest. That's not to say Fable won't have it's charm also and perhaps an expansion, and the game does have a Co-op (Albeit a strange one) and will offer you a richer narrative.

Flip a coin, or failing this you could wait 6 months and buy both for the same price!

sadly no, I got a week... long story dont ask.

On a related note, is Fable 2 only for the 360? I assumed it was for the PC too but found no evidence of such

LEFT 4 DEAD YOU FOOL.

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself. I can't even retype it really.

Don't get me wrong here, I just borrowed Fable 2 from a friend and I'm enjoying it, but...LEFT 4 DEAD.

Both are worth playing though. I would borrow/rent Fable 2, and buy Left 4 Dead. At the very least rent it though, because the game must be played.

Left 4 Dead is an awesome first person shooter.

However, if you don't have online, don't even bother. The single player might as well have a big TOKEN slapped on it, and is literally just multiplayer. With bots instead of people.

I can't comment on Fable II, having not played it.

So, by default, Left 4 Dead gets my vote. Great, great game.

Left 4 Dead if you have friends who can play it with you.

Fable 2 if you don't.

Basically this. Also Fable 2 is short as hell, I'd say under twenty hours if you do all the sidequests and everything there is to do.

Edit: And yeah, Fable II is 360 only with no plans for a PC port but you know it's going to happen sooner or later.

I own both games for the 360. Fable 2 is good but Left 4 Dead is great. Although as some people have mentioned if you don't have online capabilities don't bother. I wouldn't worry about having friends though about half of my Xbox friends list is now made up of people who I have met through pickup games.
