I really can't think of any pirates besides the one in Soul Calibur 2 and I don't remember his name.

Cervantes.

also, Pirates might make good dentists.

*uses hook to scrape off plaque, but misses because of eyepatch*
"Yarr, this would be easier if I had depth perception."

DungeonMaster 04-16-2004 10:37 PM

But the only thing they got is death perception...
How would pirates make good dentists? Have you ever pair attention to all of those cartoons!?

slightly aboveaverage man 04-16-2004 10:38 PM

well, they would make a killing in the gold teeth market.

The Tortured one 04-16-2004 10:51 PM

it's rather depressing that I actually have to sit down and think about manly characters in video games, given that theres so few of them... hmmm....

Jak
Solid Snake
Duke Nukem
Dante
Spawn
None of the characters in FF6 appealed to me, save Cyan. Sabin was a big baby. Oh yeah, Mog was the man.
That big wrestler guy from dead or alive 2 and 3. He was badass.

Dante 04-17-2004 12:02 AM

Dante is the manliest, and the most stylish... followed closely by Malcom from Unreal Tournament, who is slightly less manly, but doesn;t have as much style.

CelesJessa 04-17-2004 12:09 AM

I think Garr from Tales of Destiny is pretty manly... but kinda weird... He's more "Let's bash this door in with my head!" rather than, "Let's go through this maze to find the switch!" (which he does...)

EDIT: picture wouldn't work quite right, so I took it off.

Demon with a Glass Hand 04-17-2004 12:09 AM

And then there's Solid Snake.

... ... And Demon. He's featured in Card Fighter Clash, dontchaknow? See. He's my avatar!

heh heh heh.

I feel left in the cold, since I believe the manliest men come from the little-known games.

Grave - GunGrave(yeah, does anyone remember Brian's review of this game?) - He's like Dante, except he carries a big coffin on his back which is full of all his secret weapons. You gotta be manly to carry a coffin everywhere you go, and still do flips and dives and shoot the crap outta everything.
Koh - Azure Dreams - He's like Ash Ketchum, except he actually fights, instead of havn his monsters do all the fighting. Any monster catcher who fights is manly. Not to mention every time here enters the tower, he starts at Level 1 again, so getting to the top must be a pain for the average schmuck.
Gala - Legend of Legaia - He's the Master Teacher of a school of monks. Martial arts expert just rippling with muscle, and he's got a brain in the right head(unlike that pervert Duke Nukem). He's also very skilled in poetry, knows much about the workings of the world(including the birds and the bees), and can make a laughing stock of himself without fear of reputation.
Mouse - Ephemeral Fantasia - A musician with a sword sheathed inside his guitar. That's the perfect cover for such a weapon! Not to mention he uses his guitar to bash things, too. I think this makes him a man.

Yeah, Sephiroth's just a pretty-boy.
