And another anime crossover fighting game gets announced

Shounen Magazine VS Shounen Sunday, apparently. 'Tis for the PSP.

Known characters:

Conan of Detective Conan
Negi Springfield and Asuna Kagurazaka of Negima!
Natsu Dragonil of Fairy Tail
Shinichi Mechazawa of Cromartie High School
InuYasha of InuYasha
Kenichi Shirahama of History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
Ippo Makunouchi of Hajime no Ippo
Ikki Minami of Air Gear
Yoshimori Sumimura of Kekkaishi
Kaoru Akashi, Aoi Nogami, and Shiho Sannomiya of Zettai Karen Children
Hayate Ayasaki of Hayate the Combat Butler

Considering the bombing of Tatsunoko VS Capcom, I'm surprised this is getting made. It's by Konami, by the way.

The joint cover spread features the title character of George Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo (Shonen Magazine) shaking hands with the title character of Gosho Aoyama's Detective Conan (Shonen Sunday). This is the first time, to ANN staff's knowledge, that Shonen Magazine ever mentioned Shonen Sunday's name on its cover. (Both magazines debuted on March 17, 1959 so strictly speaking, the 50th anniversary will be next year.)

In a unique joint event in Tokyo on Wednesday, the two magazines announced the projects that will commemorate the anniversary. The Konami game developer will be making a game featuring popular characters from both magazines. Card games and prizes are also planned. For the next 53 weeks starting this Wednesday, the Uniqlo apparel maker is selling a different weekly t-shirt featuring the magazine's characters. As previously reported, Yōzaburō Kanari and Fumiya Sato's Kindaichi Case Files mystery manga will join forces with Detective Conan for a limited-run biweekly magazine that will ship in April and May. Mitsuru Adachi (Touch, H2), Rumiko Takahashi (Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha), Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe), and Fujiko Fujio A. (Doraemon's Motoo Abiko) appeared at the event.

Ikki Minami of Air Gear
Woo-hoo!

I mean, er...

I'd probably be more excited about this if I read any of those manga. Or watched the anime. Or knew enough about those magazines to root for certain characters to be in. I do expect that I'm gonna see way too many "Inuyasha vs Inuyasha" or "Inuyasha vs Everyone Else" done by fans. Especially American ones if this ever comes to the States. It won't.

I recognized maybe two of those, and I work in a bookstore, and frequent the manga section. >.>

I figure the bigger complaint is going to be about the current gaping lack of Sesshomaru than anything. Or at least, that's what my friend would be complaining about. Constantly.

C'mon, you gotta at least know Ippo! D=

I wouldn't hold the unlikeliness of this coming to the USA against it. Like Jump! Super Stars before, this is coming for a region-free platform.

FUCK YEAH History's Strongest Disciple, Kekkaishi and Fairy Tail. Also who hasn't at least heard of Conan and Ippo? I mean I can understand not wanting to admit knowing about Air Gear or Negima, but still Conan and Ippo are pretty damn big.

That was my initial reaction. Hey, RT, you never told us if it was any good. Is it any good?

I've heard of Conan, but really with this roster I couldn't be more apathetic about the game. :/
