The Big Bang Theory

Anyone follows this series? It's quite new, but im just loving it.

A really smart and well done show that takes the "science" (and nerd) themes and works with it just really well. I expect the cast to grown as this season and the next comes along (and i really hope they keep coming), and i just really hope they keep the great dynamic the characters have now..

It kinda reminds me of the early seasons of scrubs but in a more "friends" like setting. And it works, so it's fine! There arent a lot of new good comedy (or sitcons for that matter...) shows coming out after the writers strike and into 2009, but i really hope this one gets big on the radar

New? Hasn't this been on since like, 2007?

But yeah, from what I've seen I can't stand it. Nothing but awful cliches and unfunny jokes. There's much better stuff on tv.

It's a show about Science nerds... if it wasnt cliche'd and camp they would've done it wrong!

I meant new in the sense that it's only on it's second season... i think it's around since mid-07

I mean, if there ever was a Nerdy Sitcom, i think this is how it is done right

The guys were arguing with Sheldon about how Superman washes his clothes, since Sheldon thought that Kryptonian sweat was impossible to remove with Earth's resources. There were several suggestions made, both on how it could be done and on it not being an issue, and the final suggestion was that he visits Kandor and goes to the tiny drycleaner there. This is the only suggestion I laughed at, and it was followed with "Now, let's not be silly."

It has its moments. The Christmas episode was really good, though it requires some familiarity with the characters.

Edit: Wait, crap, Bellsouth also used Superman jokes.

Not a problem, i belive i can provide a proper replacement

The Big Bang Theory combined with How I Met Your Mother make for one fantastic and funny hour of comedy.

I couldn't get into it. I tried to, I've managed to watch about one whole episode in total, and it didn't strike me as anything more than nerd stereotypes with really bad hair screeching at each other. The only reason I'd ever force myself to sit through an episode is to see that blonde girl.

Thus making it the most realistic sitcom on television.

Honestly, the only element where I feel they're actually off base is with Raj. Not to say that having difficulty making conversation with members of the opposite sex doesn't happen, but not in the way it's written here. It was an okay joke at first but it's sort of a hindrance on writing the character beyond that first episode.

Bells 01-07-2009 10:28 PM

They are writing in a lot of space for the plot space for the future, and sure Raj will grow into a more vivid character, i think he is better than Fez from that's 70'show for example...

Also, the show is better on the second season... but you need to be open to it. It's not a show trying to cash in on Pop culture, is a show using Pop culture within proper context. Heck, many of their discussions i could easily mirror to some of the ones we have here!

Yeah, they use Halo, Star trek, and there is even a episode about Age of Conan! But i couldnt imagine it done any other way... i mean, even Penny's interation with the guys is belivable

I don't see the distinction.
