Gah! The thing's tripled in size since I checked it around noon. >_<

Anyways...

Incendius: Sure...either is fine.

Signs up will close when this thread maxes out. If you still wish to join after that, shoot me a PM, and I'll tell you what I can do. But for the time being, it's first come, first serve.

Wizardcat: You know what? Let's dumb this down a bit. For all intents and purposes, your magic, outside that of summoning magic, will work the same as other, more "normal" magic. Call it a side effect of the weird magic field on this world. However, I'm sticking to my guns on the summoning part. Just trust me when I say that, for reasons of plot, summoning won't work...at the moment at least. If you want to switch to the other character, that's fine...just go easy on the telepathy. That's one of the things I'm always extremely paranoid about as a GM.

Perhaps you didn't notice, but could you tell me just how bright it is there?

I'm under the impression that there aren't any stars.

Anywhere.

Toastburner B 01-13-2009 10:58 PM

At the moment, we'll say it's mid-morning. However, the sun for this world isn't as bright as Earths, so it won't get blindingly bright. Just, you know, don't look directly at the light from the Lighthouse.

Sorry, I didn't mean to give the impression at the Lighthouse was the only source of light for the world.

As for stars and such...I'm still working on the night sky thing...so give me a bit. >_>;;

I also feel that you'll cross the river and be in Wayward well before you reach the Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is really a long ways away.

Also, Wayward itself isn't right on the bank of the river. After all, if you were going to build a town, would you build it where the only scenery you got was an endless waste and terror-invoking monsters? I think I detailed it on my first post of this thread, so see that for questions about the town proper.

In that case, repeating my PM info here:

Name: Gem
Original RP: Rebirth of Destruction
Character Sheet: Ta-dah!

Unfortunately magic isn't very defined there. The system was elemental based but Gem tended to have a crapload of raksha-esque subtle pixie tricks, especially glamour - basically a physical illusion. He was a good enough mage to use and combine any number of elements.

I'll quote the elemental samples out of the info sheet:

Fire: Flames, Rapid Change (not neccessarily movement), Pain. Fire hates water, but destroys ice.
Water: Liquid, Flexibility, Illusions. Water is destroyed by ice but is able to quench fire.
Ice: Cold, Clarity of Thought. Ice destoys water but is destroyed by fire.
Earth: Earth, Lack of Movement, Protection. Earth solidifies all other elements.
Wind: Wind, Freedom and Speed of Movement, Sound. Wind gives all other elements speed.
Time: Control over the forces of space and time.
Life: Control over life and death.

ok its ok that I made the assumption massive deaths have occured over time and in horrific form. As requested I greatly reduced his usual ability to see and communicate to the dead to merely telling many had died and under unpleasent circumstances

I edited my post to leave out the city. But I stand by the people hanging out and watching the chase. I personally would hang out and make bets on whether people are going to make it or not.

"Ooo he looks like a fast one. 10 gold says he makes it."

"No way phil, he's still got 20 yards to the river, 20 says the horseman catches him."

"You're crazy, He's too...oh, oh he's tripped, ah damnit, looks like thats 10 gold I owe you."

Toastburner B 01-13-2009 11:43 PM

Yeah...I already said that there's small camps to help people who just got out of the Wastes. It's one of those that Kenneth and Chester are at in the OP.

Arhra: Approved...I assume you've read through the thread and have seen that magic is being nerfed a bit for the time being, correct?

EDIT:

I should also note that, given the current size of the group, this is going to be a little more free-form than my RPs usually are. As you might imagine, the overall goal at the moment is to reach the Lighthouse, but the whys and hows are up to you. So if you're waiting for me a throw in an all encompassing plot element, there's not one coming, for the time being.

POS Industries 01-14-2009 01:08 AM

Well, maybe not all-encompassing, but some occasional random encounters sprinkled about the different groups might be a good idea. You know, once we have character meet-ups that aren't centered entirely around yutzes jumping in to rescue female characters.

Also, it's good to know that this world is slightly less nightmarish than I had assumed.

Aerozord 01-14-2009 01:19 AM

might be wise to discuss groups and things like that. I do hope we dont get groups of people from the same story though. I think its more fun when they have 0 knowledge of each other
