....

.......

HAH! I hope I didn't take too much liberty in expanding the scary post of horsemen DOOM you did there, TB.

PhoenixFlame 01-13-2009 11:34 AM

I've managed to acquire enough fear without any need of horsemen.

Running will not be difficult! :p

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 01-13-2009 12:25 PM

It may be quite difficult for Reese to consider fleeing; when he encounters the Horsemen he'll probably just think them devils and stand his ground. He also thinks they may be Nightmare phantoms and killing them will free him and injure the Nightmare.

But at the same time, he knows when to give up and not bite off more than he can chew, which is why he's lived to fight devils for so long. So this should be interesting to play out.

EDIT; Also, I love how at the top of the page there is an ebay ad for a lighthouse. Classic.

Ah, I forgot to do this:

Checking the sign-up for that RP again, it still seems fairly clear that, debates on magic aside, you can only summon a specific species/class of monster per each magic.
Rather, if the color is added to the summoning pool, the race or class of the color can be used for the summon. I could have four Grey spheres and be limited to a Shapeless Shapeshifter, or use a Cathar Lancer with Red, Grey, Yellow, Purple, et cetera.

you can only summon a specific species/class of monster per each magic. What do you think that chances are of those species being there to be summoned in the first place. In fact, I can guaran-freakin'-tee that there isn't.
I'd like to point out that a summoner doesn't just yell, 'Here kitty!" and look around hopefully. Most summons come from other worlds, dimensions, and the such.

Also, can I ask you for a 'clear' definition of how the colors will work here/can be found? You tend to get vauge on that part. I need them to cast Shell and Heat Pulse, as well as to summon, so it's rather important to me. Specifically Grey and Red, please.

PyrosNine 01-13-2009 05:07 PM

Considering my new custom title and the name of my character, I am totally expecting to make some joke about it later on.

I am fighting it so hard right now, but the next time the stealth trio comes out....

Part of me feels a bit weird reading about characters I've met before, but my character hasn't. Part of me wants to take Rose up to Ed and act subserviant, go up to Suzume and either comment on how bloodthirsty he is or fight with him over a doomed soul, yet without breaking character, which is probably impossible.

Astral Harmony 01-13-2009 05:31 PM

Part of me wants to have Laurella join the Kimonos during the RP's epilogue.

Wizardcat 01-13-2009 06:52 PM

Y'know what? I think I'll just go with my third character, Ciar, and not give everyone the summoning headache. Or maybe I'll decide after the summoning questions are answered, and take it from there.

In any case, the differences in our online times is getting annoying.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 01-13-2009 07:40 PM

Mauve; love the opening, mutinied by the Excelsior crew. But you know the good Dr Simon would never betray you... right??

Anyway I'm sticking with you, mainly cos I judge people on the coolness of their weapons and if you die I can steal it for myself.

Incendius 01-13-2009 08:42 PM

Heya, I know this is kind of late, and you already have a bit of a glut... but you did say might as well make the body count killer so if it alright with you to jump in just a little bit afterwards...

If not, have a great game.

Different characters just for approval purposes, I'm only going to use one if I do get accepted in.

Gah! The thing's tripled in size since I checked it around noon. >_<

Anyways...

Incendius: Sure...either is fine.

Signs up will close when this thread maxes out. If you still wish to join after that, shoot me a PM, and I'll tell you what I can do. But for the time being, it's first come, first serve.

Wizardcat: You know what? Let's dumb this down a bit. For all intents and purposes, your magic, outside that of summoning magic, will work the same as other, more "normal" magic. Call it a side effect of the weird magic field on this world. However, I'm sticking to my guns on the summoning part. Just trust me when I say that, for reasons of plot, summoning won't work...at the moment at least. If you want to switch to the other character, that's fine...just go easy on the telepathy. That's one of the things I'm always extremely paranoid about as a GM.

Relm Zephyrous 01-13-2009 10:34 PM

Perhaps you didn't notice, but could you tell me just how bright it is there?

I'm under the impression that there aren't any stars.

Anywhere.

Toastburner B 01-13-2009 10:58 PM

At the moment, we'll say it's mid-morning. However, the sun for this world isn't as bright as Earths, so it won't get blindingly bright. Just, you know, don't look directly at the light from the Lighthouse.

Sorry, I didn't mean to give the impression at the Lighthouse was the only source of light for the world.

As for stars and such...I'm still working on the night sky thing...so give me a bit. >_>;;

I also feel that you'll cross the river and be in Wayward well before you reach the Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is really a long ways away.

Also, Wayward itself isn't right on the bank of the river. After all, if you were going to build a town, would you build it where the only scenery you got was an endless waste and terror-invoking monsters? I think I detailed it on my first post of this thread, so see that for questions about the town proper.

In that case, repeating my PM info here:

Name: Gem
Original RP: Rebirth of Destruction
Character Sheet: Ta-dah!

Unfortunately magic isn't very defined there. The system was elemental based but Gem tended to have a crapload of raksha-esque subtle pixie tricks, especially glamour - basically a physical illusion. He was a good enough mage to use and combine any number of elements.

I'll quote the elemental samples out of the info sheet:

Fire: Flames, Rapid Change (not neccessarily movement), Pain. Fire hates water, but destroys ice.
Water: Liquid, Flexibility, Illusions. Water is destroyed by ice but is able to quench fire.
Ice: Cold, Clarity of Thought. Ice destoys water but is destroyed by fire.
Earth: Earth, Lack of Movement, Protection. Earth solidifies all other elements.
Wind: Wind, Freedom and Speed of Movement, Sound. Wind gives all other elements speed.
Time: Control over the forces of space and time.
Life: Control over life and death.

Aerozord 01-13-2009 11:18 PM

ok its ok that I made the assumption massive deaths have occured over time and in horrific form. As requested I greatly reduced his usual ability to see and communicate to the dead to merely telling many had died and under unpleasent circumstances

Mintaro 01-13-2009 11:37 PM

I edited my post to leave out the city. But I stand by the people hanging out and watching the chase. I personally would hang out and make bets on whether people are going to make it or not.

"Ooo he looks like a fast one. 10 gold says he makes it."

"No way phil, he's still got 20 yards to the river, 20 says the horseman catches him."

"You're crazy, He's too...oh, oh he's tripped, ah damnit, looks like thats 10 gold I owe you."

Toastburner B 01-13-2009 11:43 PM

Yeah...I already said that there's small camps to help people who just got out of the Wastes. It's one of those that Kenneth and Chester are at in the OP.

Arhra: Approved...I assume you've read through the thread and have seen that magic is being nerfed a bit for the time being, correct?

EDIT:

I should also note that, given the current size of the group, this is going to be a little more free-form than my RPs usually are. As you might imagine, the overall goal at the moment is to reach the Lighthouse, but the whys and hows are up to you. So if you're waiting for me a throw in an all encompassing plot element, there's not one coming, for the time being.

POS Industries 01-14-2009 01:08 AM

Well, maybe not all-encompassing, but some occasional random encounters sprinkled about the different groups might be a good idea. You know, once we have character meet-ups that aren't centered entirely around yutzes jumping in to rescue female characters.

Also, it's good to know that this world is slightly less nightmarish than I had assumed.

Aerozord 01-14-2009 01:19 AM

might be wise to discuss groups and things like that. I do hope we dont get groups of people from the same story though. I think its more fun when they have 0 knowledge of each other

Raiden 01-14-2009 01:24 AM

Everyone should use their NPF Avatar RP characters. Then everyone can know everyone.

But seriously, that's a horrible idea, and you should be ashamed for taking me seriously for even a moment. You know who you are.

POS Industries 01-14-2009 01:43 AM

Well, it's a terrible idea just because it violates rules 1, 3, and 5 all at once for most people.

And also rule 2, I'd hope.

I've been in bed with strep throat since Sunday so I forgot about this until today. I will get my first post up just as soon as I get home from work.
