Cats always win in a fight with a dog of comparable size. Thing is, most dog/cat fights aren't with one of comparable size... and even then, the cat can usually leave a few scratches and get away.
|
I don't mean in a straight out fight. Cats win easy (Tigers and Lions, what is the best a dog has, wolves?). I just mean overall.
|
Overall? Definately cats. I happen to prefer dogs, but I like the big dogs over the annoying, little, bouncy things that everyone seems to love for some reason. And the reason why I don't like cats is because my life has involved very bad experiences with my cats...plus one of my cats is pure evil.

Well, I just returned from seeing Troy (the end is a big shocker.) Anyway, I've begun to wonder who would win in a fight between the two big bad boys of the Illiad, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I'm talking about none other than Achilles and Lu Bu of course. Both were thought to be unbeatable, both could turn the tide of battle through their might alone, and both died in such a pathetic manner. One was brought down in a stunning display of his own military incompetance, and the other got shot in the heel (which happens to be the dumbest super weakness of all time) by a fem-boy with a bow.
So what would happen if these two were thrown in the ring against each other? Would Lu Bu's gargantuan strength and skill be able to overcome Achilles' supposed invincibility? Would Achilles be able to stand up against Lu Bu's spear? I think it'd be quite a toss up. Now, while we're on the subject, how about a cat-fight of epic proportions between Helen and Diao Chan? Now, I'm talking about Diao Chan from the book here. I can understand them allowing her to fight for everlasting fanservice in the game, but why was she *helping* Dong Zhuo? |
Dire wolves, actually... about as big at the shoulder as a man, and they're pretty nasty. Don't think they could take a tiger, however.
Anyway: That's mostly just preference then. I prefer cats, because they take care of themselves, more or less, they don't need as much attention, and they can be just as loving and loyal as a dog, you just have to actually be nice to them. As opposed to a dog who will love you pretty much no matter what you do, so long as you feed it and don't beat it for no reason. Cats are also prettier. Edit: Achilles wins, so long as he's wearing boots. And I don't know who that girl is, but probably her, as that Helen of Troy didn't know how to fight... you know... at all. She was just pretty. |
Wolves are pack hunters though, so you're never dealing with just one.
Edit: Diao Chan seduced Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu. She told each that the other was abusing her, and then tricked Lu Bu into killing Dong Zhuo. |
Achilles was invincible except for his heel, so he would win in the fight. Lu Bu would smack him around, but lose in the end.
Edit - So do lions, what's your point? |
Also, although cats aren't normally pack hunters, they will work together. I've seen a pair of mountain lions (about twice the size of a house cat) take down a bird together. One sat infront of it twitching it's tail so the bird would watch that one. If the bird looked like it would move, the cat would move... basically keeping the bird from running because it didn't want to get eaten by the one that was just watching. In the meantime another one came up behind it and killed the bird. They then shared the kill.
Edit: Helen wasn't even clever like that. She was just an object that multiple men wanted, so they all ended up warring for her. It was her father's doing that even men who didn't want her fought... made them sign a contract when they went to court her. |

Remember the DBZ episode* where Goku returns from space and tells all of them about Instant Transmission? He demonstrates the technique by moving to the other side of where everybody is standing. Vegeta says, so what, "it's just super speed. "However, then Krillin sees that Goku is holding Master Roshi's glasses -- which everybody seems to think is proof enough, and that at 'ordinary' super speed this would be impossible. However, if they were actually capable of light-speed movement, disappearing and reappearing in a different place with Roshi's glasses would be no problem whatsoever. Assuming Roshi was, say, 3,000 miles away, the trip would be 6,000 miles. This would take about 1/30 of a second to travel at light speed (186,000 miles/sec). In fact, since Goku took about half a second to disappear and reappear, using instant transmission was actually slower than light speed would have been. Thus, nobody would have been remotely impressed by Goku's demonstration of his new ability. As to the statement about light speed while fighting Raditz, I really only see 2 possibilities -- -In the DBZ universe, sloshing its way through the Chi energy which appears to flood and rocket back and forth across every nanometer of material reality causes light to slow down to a tiny fraction of its speed in our universe. -The people who made the comment are fighters, probably fairly dumb in regards to science, don't have much of a clue what light speed actually is, and were using the term 'light speed' to mean 'really fugging fast'. |
Well Fifth... the thing is, that they contradict themselves like that a lot. For instance, Goku can throw someone into a mountain and cause the mountan to explode. A huge pile of solid rock. He then has difficulty lifting a bus, after training far more... in 100x earth's gravity. That would make ME weigh 140,000 without the weighted training clothes, or the weights he used...
That's 70 tons just for one person, by the way. |
