Homer is probably stronger, but Griffon is meaner, and has a LOT more fight in him.....Peter Griffon wins.

[edit] Gandalf was a Valar, and he was at least strong enough to take out a Balrog....we don't know much about Merlin's abilities, so lets remove him from the fight. Elminster slept with the goddess Mystra, can slay practically anything, and has lived 2000 years. Dumbledore is tough on his plane of existence, but he needs a wand to cast spells. Gandalf doesn't cast many spells, and that makes him less useful, and Elminster can do almost everything he sets his mind to (D&D mages kick ass at higher levels). Except for beating Raistlin........but considering how many other beings Raistlin can defeat (including Goku/Gogeta), it isn't so bad to have been beaten by him.......I'm guessing Elminster wins.

Lets not forget Homer's boxing career now.

But when it comes to size, Peter could squish Homer into a pancake. Unless it was on Homers head.

Dragonsbane 05-18-2004 12:09 PM

besides, Peter has enough anger in him to kill fifty Homers.

BitVyper 05-18-2004 12:11 PM

Well, Homer will be on tv long after Peter only exists on DVDs. The Simpsons just can't seem to die.

Also, I'm sure a man who can smack another guy around with a motor bike, and take a cannon ball to the gut could handle Piddly little Peter.

Gandalf and Merlin have never really seemed powerful to me so much as wise.
Dude, Gandalf battled the Balrog for a literal eternity. Dumbledore fights, what -- Voldemort? Voldemort gets his ass handed to him by a pack of teenyboppers on a regular basis.

As to Merlin -- actually, no, not perhaps as powerful as the rest of the others (although I don't know much of anything about this Elminster character), but strikes me as the one among them most likely to cheat.

[edit] Oh, yeah, Merlin had precognition. (Actually, if I remember the TH White books right, it wasn't even 'precognition' so much as he experienced time backwards... something like that, anyway.) So that's a big advantage right there.

BitVyper 05-18-2004 12:19 PM

Yeah, but you never really see Gandalf do anything big, so his powers can't really be quantified. Elminster is an epic D&D character; level 27 I believe. He could probably beat a balor to death with a stick.

edit: Come to think of it, why don't they just make Elminster a god? He pretty much is already.

Edit 2: Didn't Gandalf only win because of that lightning strike on the endless stair? It's been a while since I read the book, but I'm pretty sure they were at a stand still up until that point. I guess that does say something about Gandalf's stamina though.

Elminster is about a 37th level character.........the Chosen of Mystra template adds +2 to his Challenge Rating, so he's the equivalent of a 39th level character.

Elminster was offered a chance to become a god, but Ao may have been joking, either way Elminster refused because he said it would ruin his life and make him useless.

I think Gandalk summoned that lightning strike.....

This forum is a wonderful alternative to actually doing my job. Anyway, how about Metal Gear MK II vs Metal Gear Ray (I think that's what the one in MGS 2 was called.) MK II may be small, but I bet he's got some m4d wireless hacking abilities.

edit: And he has that orbital laser.
