No. I'm not grasping at straws. You're not reading the text of the game.

He said straight up "If I can't exist then nothing can exist!" Or something very similiar to that. He couldn't state his motivations any more clear than if he were to grab a baseball bat and beat your skull until it was written across your brain.

Really, you're the one grasping at straws.

First off: When have you ever seen Darth Vader OR Anakin Skywalker use the jedi mind trick? I'm not sure if he's too stupid, too arrogant, or too violent to use it, or if he just never got that move down... but he never uses it. He always kills people that disagrees with him.

Second: I've already explained away any neurosis that he has. He only has egomania, and, yes, Darth Vader DOES suffer from it. Have you seen the new movies that explain why Anakin BECAME Darth Vader? It's (big) part arrogance and part believing that violence is the solution. Even calling himself a sithlord is arrogant. The sith were a race of creatures naturally intune with the force to the point that they could create living beings out of it. Darth Vader is nowhere near that.

Kuja isn't any crazier than DV, or if he is, he's only a little bit more so.

Third: The force mind tricks only work on the very weak minded. Obi wan even said so. Insanity, even if he is crazy, does not make one weak minded. There have been insane Jedi in the books... in fact, most sith lords suffer from some sort of insanity. You'd have to in order to give in completely to the dark side while knowing what it does to you (the emperor's form and DV's needing those hook-ups are directly related to using the dark side of the force).

Even if Kuja is insane, he still manipulated Brahn's ambitions/mind to the point of making her want to kill a daughter whom she loved, controlled the Lifa tree, created sentient weapons, and calculated war after war in order to keep the flow of souls coming. None of those things are actions of a weak minded individual.

but what if he thinks that dying, shedding his mortal shell, will allow him to exist forever?

Darth Vader is evil, he likes killing people. He's smart and now strong enough to use it, (unlike when he was just Anakin, and couldn't use it yet, but wasn't evil). If he can't kill someone, he'd use that trick on them.

The Sith were an ancient HUMAN civilization of immense evil and dark side Force powers.

DV is badass and he knows it, but he's not an egomaniac, or he wouldn't have become the Emperor's minion.

The emperor was extremely old, and DV was knocked into a pit of lava and had to be put in his life-support suit (what actually killed him was when Luke took his helmet off, but he was dying anyway by that point).

DV can manipulate Kuja, insanity gives him an avenue into Kuja's mind, an easy path to controlling him.......and one that will bring him victory.

Among the highest achievements in the mastery of the Dark Side is the succession from student to master. While this is also true of the Light Side, the Dark Side requires that the student utterly destroy his master to prove his abilities. (SW, ROTJ, SWJ8)

You'll notice the sources include Return of the Jedi, when either Obi Wan or Yoda (I can't remember which) explained that the dark side destroys the body of it's users, and further explained that the emperor's weakness is attributed to the dark side, even while it sustains him and keeps him alive.

Sith
Not the site I originally had it from, which included pictures of actual Sith from the comics with their boney faces and what have you, but it's all the same information. The original Sith were NOT humans.

Another lesser used but much more powerful magic was the creation of monsters. Lord Naga Sadow used this technique after his exile to Yavin IV as a way of preserving his empire. The first time, he used alchemy to alter his Sith warriors into the bestial, semi-sentient race of Massassi. He then created monsters to guard his temples and ship in case the Massassi failed. It is unknown whether Sadow altered any form of living being into these monsters, but the creatures he created are so grotesque and nightmarish it is hard to imagine them ever having been living creatures before Sadow's arrival.
And they had powers far surpassing Vader's wildest wet dreams.

I don't think you know as much about Star Wars as you think you know about Star Wars. Only FZ knows more than me, 'round these parts.

A new fight before this gets any more pathetic...

A cobra vs. a rattlesnake.

Squishy Cheeks 06-15-2004 07:10 PM

Rattle snakes are pit vipers, which means they hunt by infrared. A cobra, especially the king cobra have been known to hunt and eat other snakes. The Rattle snake would never see the cobra coming.

Fifthfiend 06-15-2004 07:14 PM

Rikki Tikki Tavi kicks both their asses.

Dragonsbane 06-15-2004 07:46 PM

wait, JADguy, don't you mean the King Snake eats other snakes? That's what it's famous for....

King Cobras are an entirely different matter....

Krylo, I concede the point......but who would win if Sephiroth fought Kuja?

BMHadoken 06-15-2004 07:46 PM

IHMN, was that on Animal Face off or something? Cuz that was kinda random...and out of tune with the usual match ups round here...

I'm gunna say cobra, rattle snake would give itself away.

Speaking of Rikki...

Rikki vs. Daxter

Krylo 06-15-2004 08:05 PM

Rikki Tiki Tavi vrs Daxter of Jak and Daxter? That depends... does Daxter get to actually use any weapons?

Kuja would destroy meteor with a wave of his god-modding hand and then have some soulless black mages kill Sephiroth, because dirtying his own hands with such a base creature would be beneath him.

here is an odd one but I got a carisma battle
Liu Bei(Dyansty warriors) vs. James Bond
