Getting MP3's off Youtube
So I'm trying to get a bunch of audio files from youtube videos for a presentation, and normally I just use vixy.net. However, for some reason, my computer has decided to stop recognizing that it has the ability to play MP3's derived from vixy.ney at all. I can play other MP3's just fine however, so it's not a computer issue, and I need these files or else have to drasatically change the presentation.
That being said, does anyone have a good way to pull the audio files from youtube and convert them to MP3 that won't take me 2 hours a song? |
Haven't tried it on youtube, but orbit downloader has a Grab++ feature. I'd give that a shot? (I'd try, but youtube is blocked here on my ISP)

Record via audacity.

I did not know about vixy.net but I'm gonna spend the next day off I have with it.
Off-hand, I'd try converting the files the site gives you to .wav, then back to .mp3. That's at least quick. If that doesn't work I guess you could record them while the video is playing, then convert to .mp3 - it takes a while but hardly two hours. Programs: no idea, really, I've used nothing but SIMPLE MP3 Maker for years which probably makes me terribly out of the loop. But it is quite a neat conversion program. |

I download music off of bands' myspaces when they release songs before the album with Audacity, but apparently you can't do it if you have USB headphones plugged in. It's just the length of the song to record it, a few seconds to cut off the edges, then a couple minutes to export as mp3... you might need to download something to be able to do that. I forgot.
EDIT: fuck yooooooooooooooooooooooooooou. :D |
Record via CreativePlayer

or just download the video (if you use firefox there are plugins just for that...) and rip the music, by using a basic media converter... that's what i do. Download the FLV, convert to MP3, done!

An alternative to vixy is zamzar as it does more or less the same thing, and it'll convert it to whatever you want.
There are also firefox plugins that will let you do that, and if you just need audio I've found that (on my computer at least) I can plug my headphone jack (audio out) into my microphone jack (audio in) with one of those two-sided headphone cable things (can't think of the proper name at the moment) and record. It's better quality that way than if you just record it while it's playing. |
If you're only getting the songs off of Youtube, there are a bunch of easier online ways to get it instead of downloading a program first in order to get the songs. There is vidtomp3.com which has always worked for me when it came to Youtube videos.
