Dead Space

I just got this today, and really when did EA start making stuff like this? It's Resident Evil 4's gameplay(upgraded to take advantage of the current gen's power, that hologram stuff it does is really neat) used to create the horrific lovechild of Aliens and Event Horizon. And every bit as pants browneningly awesome as you'd expect a mix of RE4, Aliens and Event Horizon to be.

So yeah, who else got this game?

whee

I got this for my brother. I'm not sure I'd be able to play the whole game.

Have it, played until getting attacked by dead babies, further updates as events warrant.

And a change of pants right?

In case anyone is wondering, some parts are kind of creepy and some fights are frantic and it was fun gettin' attacked by a baby but it's not, like, scary.

I played the "Decapitation Demo," offered by the PS3 online thing. I have to say I was disappointed. Dark does not equal scary. Corpses getting up is not scary. Not having proper weapons is frustrating, not scary. And though I haven't played it the whole way through, I bet you that any scene involving the fetus in Silent Hill 3 was a lot more disturbing than anything Dead Space can throw.

Those shots of the maternity ward in AVP:R held nothing for me - proof that there's way too much undead/evil child/baby things out there.

Same here, that demo was really unimpressive (it was also the shortest demo I have ever seen. 1 Room of enemies, then you die, what the fuck?!) The weapons were interesting at least, like that circular saw thing, but the controls were pretty crude and slow, I thought and it was in no way scary.

Doubt I'll ever play the full game.

One of my most favorite fucking games of all time.

Biggest tip: Play the game on Hard. It becomes much more scary and 10000000%/X better when you do, because the Necromorphs go from Dawn of the Dead zombies to Dawn of the Dead 08 Remake Zombies, and it's great.

Also, the weapon you start off with is the best weapon in the entire game. It's pretty sweet. That and all the weapons actually make sense for the environment as does finding ammo for them. Great game. I never played the demo, but based on what you guys have said, I'll say the game is nothing like the demo.

Yeah there's other really great weapons - the Line Gun and Force Gun and Ripper are all pretty deadly - but I swear get a few upgrades for the Plasma Cutter and it's easily the most deadly weapon ever.

One of my favorite fictional weapons, right behind the Volcanic Hammer and Spread Shot.
