Its not the Vampires I'm worried about...

Its the fans....

Seriously, the first story I read had two elementary school girls trying to drown another in the bathroom just becase she said something negative about the series. The hell?!
I'm starting to suspect the publisher's laced something into the ink...

(I wasnt sure whether this should have gone into Books and Media since its primarily about the fandom. Feel free to correct it if I should have)

I'm more worried about the fans too, but mostly because you can't see the fans sparkle from a mile away.

Seriously though, shouldn't the author say something about this? Like, "Sure, some people don't like my series, but nobody has to be injured about it"?

Because if the fans are loyal enough to attempt murder over it then they're loyal enough to be told NOT to.

holy moly

Uh

What?? Do parents even try instilling right and wrong anymore?

My sister reports crazy ass junior high girls biting each other in the neck.

My sister lives in a more mainstream area than I do, so it's pretty easy to suspend my disbelief.

Haha, the Duel.

I'm like 110% sure it isn't true, but I really want it to be.

It's not that i dont belive those posts... but i wouldnt vouche for them either.

I mean... a bunch of "i know someone who got hurt by Twilight fans" threads in the TWILIGHT SUCKS forum? Sorry, i need a tad more than that to buy this...

Really, even if only a third were true or if only the so-called "Slap on a Wrist" offenses were true, the fact remains that people are suffering physical harm over a teenage romance novel. And if that's enough to provoke that kind of a reaction in people...

Twilight Sucks is actually a pretty leveled out place from what I've seen of it.

To be honest the only one I read was the one on the duel, which just introduced far too many improbable things one after the other, to the point where it CAN'T be real.

It's awesome, though, so I'm going to live my life as though it is real, because it makes life better.

Professor Smarmiarty 01-13-2009 11:21 PM

Yeah I'm not buying it. People attempted drowning and beating each other over a book? Unlikely.
And I'm suresome of the more serious ones would have been picked up by some media just because of the reasons behind it if they were true.
