Team Fortress 2: Soon to be titled, "Ohsnapscoutrush".
It seems to have been a while since Team Fortress 2 came up, and with the scout update coming I felt like it was a good time to make a thread.
Ideas for the scouts unlockables that aren't Steam-forum ridiculous? Plans to deal with the onslaught of scout rushing? And of course other TF2-type discussions. Like the pre-christmas engineer/spy update and demo nerf. For those who aren't in-the-loop: Read the newest blog post. |

Massive scout rush will be hell, but still not as bad as a massive soldier rush, if/when Soldier ever gets updated. Still, Pyros should be okay against the mighty Tsunami of Scouts, and hey, any medics who still haven't gotten their achievements should do well. I fear for Spies, Heavies, and possibly Demomen, though.
I'm not entirely certain what Valve could do to improve Scout without taking away his balancing features. Yes, he's got fewer hit points than the other classes, but that's to counteract the fact that he runs circles around everyone else. The website mentions that Valve wants to make Scouts more useful in Payload maps, so I guess they could modify things so he pushes the cart even faster, but since he's such a puny little guy, that really doesn't make much sense. As for new weapons... I have no idea. I mean, the pistol is kinda crappy, but again, its crappiness forces the Scout to rely more on his speed and ability to weapon-heckle than his ability to double-jump onto a rooftop and shoot at people from afar. And how are they going to improve the baseball bat? You can't get better than a metal baseball bat!! |

That's what the Pyro's for. However, I like the idea of playing baseball with a wooden bat and Demoman's grenades. Would take a LOT of skill for that one. Though I had an idea of a sonar type thing since the Scout is more for recon than the spy is. Remove the Pistol, then you see a map with the latest info on it, but to attack you give up long range firepower (which is more a joke than anything else.) |
There is Hints that they are bringing in Some things From Left 4 Dead. I hope they Put a shilluette around the god damned cloaked spies so they don't yell at me when i walk behind them unknowingly or visa versa.

Wouldn't mind if they gave him the nailgun again. Giving the option of a more spray-n-pray style of fighting. That would be a good scatter-gun alt weapon.

Doc, the friendly spies glow to you anyway. They're not totally invisible.
At least the servers I play on will be limiting the number of scouts people can play so we don't get overruled and I can still play soldier/medic efficiently. @Bookworm: Demoman got pretty heavily back into drinking when they gave all guns the ability to destroy the stickies, and made the stickies replenish half your ammo. And give metal. |
