Advent Children Complete: now featuring 100% more LIMIT BREAK

What is it with Square releasing half-finished products only to milk you with the COMPLETE versions later?

Looks flashy! Looks actiony! It seems like it will fill some plot holes too!

I'm not buying.

Silly RT. Everyone downloaded and sub'd imported the movie to see it since it took nearly a year to release to American shores.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 01-29-2009 05:52 PM

I didn't even bother to download, I just streamed it via Veoh.

Even then it wasn't worth the effort.

Regulus Tera 01-29-2009 05:54 PM

That's precisely my point. I downloaded and bought the original release because, unlike the cool kids all around NPF, I admitted to enjoying the action scenes and the fanservice. Problem is, I'm sick of Square ripping off its fans on every instance, re-releasing games two or three years after their original launch date, featuring new bosses, new mechanics, and actual scenes that should have been in the plot in the first place to begin with.* Hell, the name itself, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, implies they were not even doing an effort with the original movie.

Fuck this and the Square Enix tax. Fuck them.

*See Final Fantasy VII International, Final Fantasy VIII International, Final Fantasy X International, Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System, Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix +, and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories.

..."plot"?

Regulus Tera 01-29-2009 06:06 PM

Well, what little plot was there to begin with. It was still very holey.

Oh I enjoyed the fight scenes, no question of that, I just wouldn't ever pay for them. Really I'd just go watch Dead Fantasy a couple dozen times instead.

Edit: If it's any consolation though, it's not just square enix that pulls this shit. Konami pulls it with every Metal Gear these days as well. And how many updated versions of Midnight Club do we get each year? And Wipeout HD is just the last 2 psp games cellotaped together and painted in gloss. Recyling is all the rage in gaming these days it seems.

I love that song that's playing over the trailer.

Need to find out what it is so I can purchase it legally at my local retailer.

Fixed for you.

Besides, not that I am defending S-E or anything, but don't any major movie come out with a special extended edition anyway?

It's J-E-N-O-V-A by The Black Mages, Advent Children rendition. You can buy it from iTunes if you look for the movie's soundtrack. Scratch that, they don't have it. They have the first The Black Mages album, but it's a slightly different version of the song.
