Weapons, Concepts, or just General ideas that you would like to see in video games

I know we had one of these threads before but both of them are long past dead.
This is a thread Dedicated to ideas of games. Or more so What you have always wanted to see in games...
I always wanted a game where Gravity is changing...both in your control and out of it! like in a test facility or space station where you are fighting other guys then all of a sudden you, them, and all the heavy crates and other things start to fall to the "side" your camera twist and now not only do you have to worry about the enemies but also you have to worry about weak doors and falling crates. I guess later on you could have it where you get a suit that allows you to turn your own gravity. allowing you to "drop kick" your enemies run up the under side of stares and other things...
i would be Awesome!

Wasn't that in Dead Space?

A game where the cutscenes are interactive. Not QTE interactive, but let's say the character is fighting a helicopter in the cutscene. Having certain inputs you can put in depending on how you want the fight to go. Push left? Character runs left, and as the character is running you get to control other stuff about it. Press right? Character starts running towards a wall and you can press jump or whatnot and he jumps up onto the wall. Basically having cutscenes that you can control how they flow without pass/fail thing going on.

So, like, a cutscene that you play? Like, the same as the rest of the game, but with crazy, "cinematic" camera angles?

Kim 01-30-2009 12:20 AM

Well, the thing with cinematics is that stuff happens during them that you can't normally do during the rest of the game. It'd be a cutscene that you play, but with certain paths, with the computer taking control of certain aspects of the gameplay as it went through.

But how would you know which options are open to you?
I mean, I could WANT to run towards that rooftop edge and jump down, but the game would probably not let me.

Running left, headlong into a wall would also be a bad thing.

They'd probably need to show the options you DO have in the screen... wait, that sounds like a QTE.

There'd be an event mapped to every button, well not necessarily every button. An event mapped to every direction, as well as jump and shoot or some such.

Maybe a better idea on that one is if cutscenes are for dramatic moments. Like when you dive off a building, you equip a grappling hook to the nearest ledge then can dodge with a shift of light on the right side of the screen to your right or something to that effect.

NO!

I think he's saying he wants cutscenes to be like CYOA books, only animated... or something similar. I could go for that.

To leap off the catwalk, onto the approaching enemy glider below, hold left.
To climb the ladder into the air vent, hold right.

...actually, a visual CYOA might make a pretty interesting flash game. Not a particularly deep one, but certainly pretty cool.
