What just happened?
I'm sitting in my room watching tv, hear a tiny tiny rumble outside that sounded like a low flying plane, then it went away. Then NBC breaks in with this.
I can't really say how long it lasted, but the center puts it about a half hour drive from here. The last time I ever even heard about something like this over here was from my grandma who said she actually felt a little shaking back in the 80s. People on tv are saying it felt more like a sudden jolt, so right now we're all clueless. [Edit] Or maybe the gangs have upgraded to earthquake machines. :O [Edit2] No injuries, some gas lines broke, but other than that. Now they're reporting it came from near the town I work in. xD |
Yeah, it's funny when some of the less active fault lines act up occasionally. We had a random quake here in Ohio last year, I think. I honestly didn't even notice it, though trains run through my back yard so it's not like low rumbles are out of the ordinary.
The one that happened while I was out in California back in 2005 was more audible. |
Bah... that website is demanding on my limited bandwidth. Whatever happened to typing the news? Anyway, it was ninjas. They were fighting dragons in the aqueducts, as they do every two decades in that region. Earthquakes are the only good excuse.
I am kidding, and I am also happy no one got hurt. Still, fault lines don't just go away. I hope nothing more serious happens later on. The world physically changes both above and beneath the crust as the tectonic plates shift. Sometimes they make gaps. Other places, they push against each other as they rub. Its all hard to predict, and I'm sure a team of government-paid eggheads are on it as we type. |
Sorry about the bandwidth hogging link, here's a less demanding one.
http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/2...ES01/302020001 They're talking torn walls and stuff now, hope it didn't do much to my dad's store. He just had it renovated. [Edit] Haha, not just near. It was centered in the town I work in. Hope it wasn't our oxygen tanks rupturing. |
We here in Walla Walla had a 3.0-ish earthquake a number of years back. I slept through it though. xD
Anyway, good to hear that no one is hurt. |
Just a trivial update. We just had another minor quake. Same general vicinity.

Maybe it's an ancient, terrible monster from a bygone epoch in the Earth's history, awaking from its slumber to reclaim its place at the top of the food chain.

Oh, so that incomprehensible book that sent me to the nut house actually meant something?
Shit. ...you guys have any boats to ram with? |
