Ragnarok: Chapter 5
 

(OOC: Apologies... this is a long post... but it's an important one... so be sure to read it ^^ )

<They know I'm watching....> Fenris realised as she saw the others glance at her and they seemed to stiffen as if they were being watched... because they were being watched. <I have to stop stalling!> She told herself, <Sara could be here any minute, and all of balder's chosen must be ready!> Even though Fayon is a natural fortress, build on top of a cliff and surrounded by deep ravines, she knew city didn't have a chance, they were preparing for celebration, not war.

She approached the group, it was now or never. "Adventurers..." She started, addressing the people, she prayed that they would believe her words, "Fayon city is in dire danger..." She looked at each of them carefully, "Believe my words or not, but Fayon is going to be in the clutches of battle before long... I urge you to escape while you can!" She insisted. She regretted asking them to leave, since she wanted to help fayon herself, but if Balder's chosen get killed here... then there will be no hope for the world.

Meanwhile, on the highbridge...

"Man, is it time to eat yet?" One guard complained.

"Eat? You just finished eating an hour ago!"

"Hey!" Matthew's voice called over to the slacking guards, "What are you doing complaining about food? Keep your eyes open. Lady Iris' party is going to go off without a hitch, or it's on you two!" He threatened.

"Yes sir!" The two guards said, getting back to their posts... but they stopped dead in their tracks, "Hey.... What are those?"

Little slips of paper were falling down from everywhere around the bridge. They seemed completely harmless until they read what was on the cards.... runes....

No sooner did they realize what the cards where, the cards each burst, emiting a beam of energy. All of the energy beamed into a center point, creating a vortex. The guards stood, tense, waiting to see what was going to happen.
Suddenly, a clawed hand reached out of the vortex, the monster pulling itself out of the vortex. One came after the other... Slowly the monsters came out until....

"Frost giants?!" Matthew cried, turning to the others, against frost giants, the bridge defences would be sure to be decimated within only a few seconds.

"...You waste your time, Matthew." A woman's voice called out, "You are nothing more than ants beneath my feet to be squashed." Sara Irine called out, "A fate you justly deserve!"

"What did you want to tell me father?" Iris asked, talking with her father in a much more peaceful part of Fayon, unable to see what was happening on the bridge.

"This isn't easy for me..." Her father said seriously, "This being your eighteenth birthday, I figured I should tell you the truth..." He said uneasily, "Iris... you have a sister, "She's four years older than you... and disappeared twelve years ago." Lord Irine looked down, "Twelve years ago... The elders and I... We made a terrible choice..."

His words were disrupted by a massive exploasion in the direction of the high bridge, "What?!" He run to a better vantage point, now able to see what was happened, "No! It can't be!"

Darilk was about to answer the warrior woman when an explosion from the direction of the highbridge diverted his attention. His gaze calmly turned in the direction of the sound and his sword came unsheathed, but he was not acting on the sound yet. Instead his sword pointed toward the woman and began to glow with the unholy light while his gaze remained turned toward the sound.

"Perhaps you should explain yourself," he said coldly.

Vace drew his own sword at the explosion and said, "As long as she can assure us that she isn't responsible for that, I'll believe her. My only question is, who's needs to get beaten to stop the person that's making those explosions, and when are we going to stop standing around here waiting for the sky to fall on us?" With that, Vace began to head in the direction of the explosions.

"Well I'm up for running." Meth tried to get up. "Wait. No I'm not." He tried again. "I've fallen and I can't get up!"

"Someone grab him."

Kal's mind was doing backflips. Explosions were technically bad. Theoretically at least. Granted that various exploits shouldn't apply under these circumstances.

He broke his train of thought. "Okay, Darilk, hold her in line. I'm gonna' go with Vace, and see what's going on."

He sprinted after the charging warrior.

Dart drew his sword, ready for what was coming, whatever it was. He wouldn't mind burning his hands one last time. Just for the memories, he thought. He stayed tense, waiting for what had caused the sound to come at them, and also waiting for an explanation from someone.

"No no no!" Fenris yelled as some of them took off for the bridge, "You can't hope to fight them off! You only hope is to get as many people as you can to flee this place!" Fenris insisted.

Vace stopped in his tracks and thought about that for a bit, but then he turned and said, "But... Just run without even trying to fight? I don't follow... How can we just abandon those trapped by the bridge? We have to try and do something!" He couldn't tell if he was more angry or confused, because there was nothing he hated more then feeling useless, and this was one of those situations where he had been told it was useless without even trying which went against every fiber of his being.

OOC: Hope this is allowed.

IC: There was a screaming heard in the air. A body came flying at them, quite high, and crashed with a series of crunches alongside them.

Kal winced visibly. "Okay...that might be bad."

He glanced at the body, and noted the red with a black rune. Silently dreading, he ran over to the mangled body.

Yep, an Alchemist.

Shuddering a bit, he pulled something off of the arm. It was a blue-ish silver armoured arm that had an abnormaly large forearm piece. He flexed a bit when it was on. A small adjustment later, it fit perfectly.

He walked back over to Vace, and said, "Judging by the fact it just flung a corpse from over there, all the way over here, I'd say it would be bad to fight."

"If we could beat that Valkyrie, trust me, I would run to the front lines with you." Fenris said as another exploasion made the ground tremble. She looked around, "We have to flee while we still can. Is everyone from your group here?" She had to make sure that all of the chosen made it out safely.
