We could throw in a crossdressing Miko breaking into their house at night and make a fanfic out of it!

God, I'm such a horrible person. XD Haha, that's one for the omake thread, for sure.

ApatheticFoxboy 04-13-2009 07:46 PM

Guess in this breif period of complete stillness I should post. But I've got a question Arhra:
Quote:

I'd like two to four other non player class members to be unaffected. Keep in mind that they will turn out to have a magical ability, although almost certainly not a range of magic like a full mage.
Do they have to be classmates? What if say a person found themshelves in this field and wasn't affected? Here's what I'm thinking Jax teleports Dojima's little sister there. Wouldn't that be so adorable!

Arhra 04-15-2009 07:25 AM

These barriers aren't easy to get in or out of. So I'm going to have to say no to that.

But if you'd like Dojima's little sister to turn out to have an ability, that's fine.

Teal Mage 04-15-2009 09:08 PM

I wasn't sure if the bell that Arhra mentioned in his post would be heard throughout the entire zone, but, I didn't see the harm of putting it in a post.

Mia's magical energy will protect her a while longer, but she'll fade into gray before Alex, and likely Demi too. Unless the unaffected people were suppose to stay unaffected the whole episode, in which case, she'll be fine!

phil_ 04-15-2009 09:24 PM

I'm just surprised that, with all the people rushing out of the room, no one noticed Panko crouching in the hall near the door. Oh well, I can deal without unnecessary complications, if you insist. Time to actually participate for the first time since the Director fight.

Tomorrow, I mean.

Teal Mage 04-15-2009 09:29 PM

I considered having Mia meet Alex and Demi outside the room and having her point out Panko, but it didn't work so well when I tried to put it into practice.

As it is, Alex was a little distracted with the three Autekka in his class. Sorry Phil.

Relm Zephyrous 04-15-2009 09:36 PM

I'm not exactly sure if that plan will work, but even if it doesn't hey, characters have flaws in their plans so if the plan is flawed, so be it. (Arhra, get to me on that though so I can properly produce results.)

phil_ 04-15-2009 09:55 PM

Sorry, I have to ask about your formatting again, Relm. Is the purple text Demi talking to herself while she talks in her head?

Relm Zephyrous 04-15-2009 10:07 PM

Ah, right. It has been a while. Anyway, all of that was in her head, and to list...

[ i ]Demi
"Mogura"
"~Sentinel~"
Voices only Demi can hear, and in this case, almost hypnotically repeats.[ / i ]

PhoenixFlame 04-16-2009 07:20 PM

In case we're not clear, Foxboy, anything italics is Akari or Ceres speaking to one another telepathically. She didn't really give any "neat information" beyond audibly informing Akari that she was bringing her search auspex online.

:)

ApatheticFoxboy 04-16-2009 08:25 PM

Understood PF, but Dojima can infer ["Jupiter AESA Online."] is so much cooler than Jax binging. Jax has backwards sonar tech from early submaries, while Ceres utilizes high tech radar from modern battleships. Besides unlike Ceres, I'm sure Jax telepathically communicating to anybody is a horrible idea>.<

phil_ 04-17-2009 02:09 PM

I'm assuming that "school office's roof" just means the section of room above the teacher's room and doesn't mean that the office is in another building. If I am incorrect in this assumption, well, Frog Panko can jump.

PhoenixFlame 04-17-2009 02:43 PM

With the first fully successful use of her midlevel ranged attack (The first was with her duel with Mitsuko, where she failed to revector every arrow), Akari's plan is to hit the shield from all positions to it's "sides" from our view, so its shield will reallocate away from the "front" position.

This is of course, the Autekka mages' cue to hit the center with something slashy.

Teal Mage 04-17-2009 11:16 PM

Sorry Mern, but Alex forgot/doesn't remember you from the battle with the Spider a few days back. Mia, of course, was never there either, so she couldn't possibly know you're a Verda. Besides, considering she thinks your expression means you know exactly what's going on, she's made the leap of logic that your the one behind it.

As a note about Mia's magic, it can't hurt you directly. Its Wicca-based, and can't be cast with the intent to injure. In this case, she's just trying to get you away from them while she buys herself some time to think of how to stop you. Unfortunately, she did forget when she began the spell that getting knocked out a window not only hurts, but is potentially fatal.

Anyway. All Mia actions with Arhra's approval. Oh and Mern, Demi and Alex haven’t called on their jackets yet, dunno if you knew that.

Edit: Apparently I have a habit of creating problems where there don't need to be.

Arhra 04-18-2009 09:01 AM

Hmmm, Menarker, I've finally figured out what's been bothering me about one or two of your abilities.

They run on moon-logic!

Hmm, let's go with the one that has been messing with my mind every time I think about it: Vengeful Hunter's Pursuit.

To say it right off the bat, I'm fine with a counter move like the intended effect. It's just the execution of this one raises a lot of questions.

First off: I've decided to just say no to super speed. We have teleportation effects, its OK to use them.

Having something like "“super-speeds” to the most direct path (instantly and instinctively known up to anywhere he can sense magic) with the least obstacles, diverting flawlessly to dodge the physical or magical obstacles in question until he is a few feet away from his target (using Arcane Clarity as the tracking method)" just is too complex and raises too many questions.

Next issue: There's no real reason why he can only use it in response to getting hit by an attack or why it has a cooldown. Cooldown's handwaveable though, seeing it's a balancing factor in the move. If you didn't have it, you'd need something more like your cited inspiration of Lucario's Double Team, where you have to trick the opponent into attacking at the right time.

So here's a proposed fix, which preserves most of the details you specified:

Vengeful Hunter's Pursuit: Just after being hit by an attack, Menarker can focus his retributive instinct and teleport to the position of his attacker by tracing back the energy path through the connection formed. He appears a few feet away, from the direction the attack was launched from. Against a melee attack he can reappear from any direction. Before it can be used again, it takes half a minute to purge the traces left by the tracking portion of this spell. This technique does nothing to prevent damage from the attack Menarker was hit with and can't go through magical barriers.

It has a few notable weaknesses - sustained and remote drone type attacks - but its a lot cleaner and more concise. It also is stronger against tricksy doppelganger antics than the original.

Hmm, if we can get Reflect and maybe Psyche Up sorted similarly and decomplexified, everything should be good I think.

Menarker 04-18-2009 10:14 AM

:brow: What the heck is moon logic?

Anyhow, although the revised VHP does sound pretty darn good (I made mine thinking that teleportation wouldn't be accepted), I might hold on that just for a bit. Teal Mage and I have been going over my move-sets and such and going over a bit of an overhaul, especially making an edit on the bio so it isn't such a bitch to read every time. :3

Anyhow, I would like for VHP to have a teleportation that keeps the momentum just before teleportation, kinda like Lucario from the game. Lends to his offensive style. *Shrugs*

PhoenixFlame 04-18-2009 12:15 PM

"You appear to understand how a portal affects forward momentum, or to be more precise, how it does not." -GlaDOS, Portal.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

On a more serious note, I'm trying to figure out how it affects missile attacks from odd vectors. Though I must confess, the vision of Mern rabidly charging empty space is a hilarious one.

Rhiya Ravenwing 04-19-2009 07:53 AM

Updating new spell/attack in the vine suit:

Vine Web: a utility attack rather than offensive. Vine Web is very similar to Vine Blast, except for the fact that it doesn't do very much except either snare people or stop people from approaching by providing a flexible barrier that can sustain heavy damages before it is dismissed or it fades away by itself (usually after 10 seconds). It is most effective when employed on or near hard surfaces, and is efficient at blocking entrances or enclosed pathways, or slowing down opponents. Iriumi discovered this new utility power when she tried to fire a vine blast with a prematurely-deployed Primordial Bow.

Arhra 04-22-2009 09:15 AM

Hmm, sorry for the delays people. Between the forum database errors and some other issues, been hard to get a nice big enemy introducing post together. Still hammering down a few last details about the bellringer too...

Should have something by Friday.

Menarker 04-23-2009 10:30 PM

Alright everyone. My bio has been edited vastly for balance and thematic purpose. Teal and I revamped it entirely. It's very, very different. Look at it.
Or it might surprise you.

Badly.

Went over a bit of this with Arhra.

Posting link. http://www.nuklearforums.com/showpo...57&postcount=3

Personality hasn't changed btw. And I have a variety of ways to "handwave" the stuff that happened before... most of them that is. Sorry for the late change and all. Hoping this be all for the best.

Teal Mage 04-24-2009 05:19 PM

Minor change to Alex's barrier jacket's appearance.

Making the costume more cliché Priestess (read: exactly what a priestess normally looks like), baggy plain white kimono top, baggy red pants and white socks. The shirt's more then baggy enough to make it difficult to tell how flat his chest is. Ribbons just hover near his wrists instead of going around them.

Main thing I'm changing is his hair, still auburn when he's changed, but it'll be longer (past his shoulders), and the style more feminine. Voice also changes into a woman's. For whatever reason, he'll look more like a tragically flat woman then a feminine boy thanks to the change now. Kinda like what the Starlights in Sailor Moon do, but a lot less sex changy.

Thought I'd also mention his hair is on the long side in normal androgynous school boy form, but not as long as this guy's. :shifty:

Should I comment on this, or just let it slide? I mean, in the long run, yeah, a ten year old and a fifteen year old are about the same age, but it just seems a little weird for a high schooler to consider a little kid "about her age." Maybe it's because I used "junior high kid," not thinking about the obvious difference in meaning between a junior high in Japanland and what I normally refer to as junior high.

Guess I've already commented on it, so I'm going to go make my post make more sense. I think this was my fault.
