Lord. I love being yanked out of a deep sleep by my dumb-ass cat, then coming online to find something like this going on.
Okay, Go-Gaia posters -- here's the story:
Mal Grande comes to these forums and seems to be the average Black Mage-obsessed fanboy poster. Unfortunately he then heads to the Discussion section of the forums and goes on to make some really asinine remarks in a discussion about homosexuality. I'm already annoyed enough by this to call "troll", but I point it out to Brian to see what he thinks about it. He's also annoyed, but being a much nicer person than I am, posts:
Quote:
Mal, stop posting in this thread. Or perhaps the Discussion Forum altogether. You're only coming across as an ignorant screwhead.

Mal either doesn't see this or doesn't care and goes on to make this post in the Discussion section:

I'm genuinely sorry if that was his actual intent, but I really don't buy that he only meant for it to be "funny and thought-provoking". The overall tone of our discussion section is left-leaning enough that he had to know beforehand the kind of reaction the post was going to provoke, and that's plenty troll enough for me. I asked Brian beforehand -- as I do with almost every decision I make as a mod -- if banning him was okay. He said it was, so I did.
I admit that my original reply to that thread, as quoted in the post Robos A Go Go linked to, is excessively harsh, and for that I also apologize to Mal Grande. I've cut it down since then, but I'm glad that he posted the original content so that it doesn't look like he's villainizing me unnecessarily.
It's hard to feel very sympathetic toward a person who's upset that someone he admires thinks he's a douchebag when he readily admits to acting like one, though. I'm sorry his feelings were hurt, but maybe this will teach him that carrying on like a jackass leads to people treating you accordingly. I'm also sorry that he says he feels depressed so much of the time, since that doesn't excuse the way he behaves but goes a long way toward explaining it.
It's interesting that he says that he used to post here before, though, since I thought he might've been someone we had to ban a long time ago, and since his host name is very similar to that person's. If Mal Grande and Whitemage
are the same person, I have to wonder why he thought he could come back and do exactly the same things that got him banned last time without experiencing exactly the same consequences.
