Miscellaneous Webcomics Discussion: Now With Plaigarism!

So it turns out some webcomic I've never heard of stole punchlines from comments on some website I've never heard of. How pathetic is that? I dunno because the comic in question got deleted after he was caught and I couldn't be bothered to read any of the others, but I'm pretty sure it's very pathetic indeed

Not since Squidi and Nightshade has the webcomic world been so scandalized!

Never heard of User Friendly? Really? It's been around for ages. Like, 13 years or something. It's one of the old school webcomics, back before EVERYONE was doing them.

I notice that Illiad has taken down the offending strips, too.

It's even older than the web. So www.zark.com gets the "oldest web original" title.

And gosh, is it boring. I tried reading it once. Got through two or three years worth of strips and then I realized it was as dull as it looks. >_>

I got a few chuckles out of it here and there, back in the height of my linux using days, but yeah, it's mostly bland newspaper-comic-but-far-geeknerdier fare. Now I bet people are gonna be puting a lot of it's archives under the microscope. Because, hey, it's the internet, what else is there to do but troll things, or search for things to troll/troll about?

What surprises me (kinda) is that he didn't just try the staple of "That's a hell of a coincidence" and left it alone. Instead he pulled the comic and has said nothing, which is the Major Image effect of big purple light all around him saying "HE'S GUILTY HE DID IT HE TOTALLY TOTALLY DID IT." Sorta like that pedophile thing.

EDIT for below: To prove that point; they were one of the first comics Penny Arcade deliberately bashed in like, their second year. That's the only reason I knew about them.

It's terrible and the internet is a meritocracy. It's not at all surprising that lots of people would have not heard about it.

That makes no sense. There are a ton of terrible comics that everyone knows.

Anyway, Illiad's come clean about it.

The difference being multi-fold.

For some of those they are recent and therefore not yet removed from the public mind. I defy you to find people who, in ten years, still know what Shredded Moose is.

For some they have redeeming features and/or a large following. CAD, for instance, has actual jokes which can be repaired and recreated with a little work in a humorous form. No amount of cutting out panels will ever make User Friendly funny.

Or they're just so much fun to make fun of that they never die.

P.S. Scott Kurtz is fat.

Especially when he never meant it to be funny!

Anyway.

I need another good-story fantasy webcomic, because Goblins just got taken off my list for the same limp-wristed pacing he's getting infamous for. Anyone have recommendations?
