You Know What's Awesome? Friends.
I mean, it certainly hasn't gotten old after 117 seasons.
The group is gonna have to make a chain gang to fight the Heroes team, the Scrubs team, the House team, the CSI team, and the Law & Order team to keep their spot on FOX. But the Heroes team would beat everyone, causing the CSI team and the Law & Order team to fight over who gets to solve the case, the Scrubs team would whine that they want to join House's staff, House's staff would argue to House, House would hire the Scrubs team, totally verbally degrade everyone, then do some inane contest to see which is the better staff and then inevitably fire the Scrubs team, and the Heroes would subsequently go to jail after the CSI team beat down the Law & Order team and arrested them - however they broke outta jail and are going to be back with new episodes this fall. Come to think of it, that chain gang show might be worth a look. |
Except that it ended.
I don't remember much about it except that I watched it with my parents all the time on Good TV Thursdays (TM), and then it would end and we'd get the popcorn out to watch Survivor. I think Chandler was my favourite. Especially with that one episode where there was some guy who called him Toby all the time, and he never got around to correcting him, and then the guy trashed Chandler's office for some reason, and invited "Toby" to join in. Memories are hazy but I'm pretty sure it was side-splitting. |
Chandler and Joey always made the show for me. Ross and Rachel were nly any good around the 7-8th season onwards, and monica and Phoebe were pretty much plot-props.. phoebe more so.
It ws a good show (and checking the Bloopers is always a blast, sometimes, even more funny than some episodes!) and the characters were really good, and the stories were just crazy enough to work! |

It had good moments and absolutely anything with Joey was hilarious but far too often it was just wacky misunderstandings times five. |

personally I thought it was pretty good, though it died when it should have, so not complaining |

Joey and Chandler make the show, but they do need the other mediocre characters to bounce off of, else they too are nothing.
I've been watching reruns on the good old PVR recently, so this is highly relevant. ...Actually now that I think about it, I find Ross pretty funny too, because in many ways he's a goofy version of me. Okay so the guys are funny, the girls are not. Wow that comes as such a shock... |
Phoebe is basically a more coherent and conventional me, so I like her. The rest of the show after about ten episodes turn into this uniform mess of unironically self-parodying epic journey through Classic American Tightpantsiness, an endless parade of people being compulsively obsessive about the most inane details of their boring lives, freaking out over any suggestion that people have things under their clothes and playing the grand game of Let's Not Talk About Things We Really Have To Seriously Talk About.
I mean, Ross goes on for three episodes straight about a date that goes badly because he can't talk about the fact that his leather pants are uncomfortable like a grown-up human being; Phoebe finds a thumb in her coke can. Do they even live on the same planet? |
