Legend of Dragoon.

So, how many have played this game? It's a RPG for the PS and it's pretty good. And the weird thing is, it's made by Sony! Who knew that Sony could make decent games, let alone an RPG that could rival almost any Final Fantasy. I just bought this game a week ago (though I played it a long time ago when I rented it) and so far it's great! The battle system is awesome, as well. To bad Sony doesn't make many good games (in fact this is the only Sony game I think I've ever seen).

I got the game a few years back, though I never could beat it. My dragoons just never all got the same amount of attention they deserved. And my twitchy fingers weren't all that great for the combo system... Still, when you finally get the timing down and everyone fully powered up, it's a good game! I really like every character's backstory too, most of them are interesting. And the fact that certain characters have bad things happen to them... Good stuff.

If you haven't seen any other Sony games, how do you know they produce bad games?

Actually, they've produced numerous games. Some sucked, some were good.

Anyway, on topic. I liked it. Other people have said it was sooo Final Fantasy 7 in plot. But, the game engine was cool and unique. There's actually an item that costs 50,000G that lets the bearer perform their combo attacks without you doing any work, get full SP, and get a point added to a successful combo. There's some other, wimpy item that costs 2000G that does the combo, but you don't get the full SP nor a point added. Anyway, trying to get...50,000 x 7...G, I was leveling up my characters a lot so the final boss was cake. And the Dragoons, those things rocked. I liked Emperor Doel best. However, the thing I disliked about Legend of Dragoon was there was only one side-quest. And also once you're in the "final dungeon," you can't escape, but the final dungeon is where all the good EXP is once you're at Level 40!

How was it like FFVII in plot? It may have been awhile since I've played it, but I don't remember anything like that. I did like the combo system. The fact that I'm actually doing something during the battles than just inputting commands made it a lot more fun.

They probably said that because you are chasing a guy with silver hair. Just my thought, and like I said, I haven't played it all the way through yet.

Yeah, i thought the game was pretty cool for the most part, but I could never figure out the 'Dragoon Combo attack" thing...not like i used it anyway.

Actually, I got it when we had to go over letters in 7th(?) grade, and i thought of sending a letter to my good friends at squaresoft (It was mandatory for us to send it to someone) I told them all the FFs I liked, what aspects about them I liked, and of course, I thought squaresoft had made LoD, so i added that in too. Of course only after i sent the letter did I realize the truth.

Yeah it was really good back then, they shoulda made another like it,
The only thing I didnt like was that they killed Lavitz, not the fact that he dies, just that he was much cooler then Prince Albert  and I have to say ALbert/Lavitz had some of the hardest combos to ever pull off in the game. Also on the mention of secret items. Am I the only one who got the secret bomb (u had to answer all the questions right in the trial cave place) that could be used once per battle and did Ultimate damage, and had all elemental properties (not making it up)

I hated that game. I thought that the characters were all kinda... bland. The combo system was about all I liked. I think I played up until the end of disc 1 before I gave it back to my friend. I'll stick to my Final Fantasies now.

AceBandage 04-21-2004 04:52 PM

The characters aren't bland at all! I mean bland is FF7 (and I love FF7). But I'll say this, FF8 had some of the best characters ever and one of the best and most complex stories.

Macharticle 04-21-2004 05:08 PM

The characters weren't any more bland than in any other typical rpg, it's just that the dialogue was boring. I remember enjoying this game, but I was fairly new to rpg's when I played it.
