(Possible) Draft.
 

A draft may be instated for the U.S. A sum of $28 million has been put away in preparation for a possible draft. In case you're thinking you will be able to get out of it if you're a female, note this draft would affect males and females. The time of instatement is unclear, the sources I've read range it from June of this year to June of next year. Edit; By the way, if this gets instated you plan on escaping draft by moving to Canada before you reach draft age, remember a bill was signed post-9/11 that said that all those elligable for draft will still be effected even if they move to Canada. So you're out of luck.

Well, I'm joining up of my own volition, and even if I wasn't, I'd do it without a fight.

A draft for what? I know I'm not up to date on most things, but if something major enough for a draft was going on I think I would know that. From what I do know, the US army is just doing mainly peace keepings.

That's true, they are only doing peace keeping. But the after war casualties exceed the war casualties. This IS a draft for the army.

I dont think we even need a draft. The armed forces have more troops than they need.

A draft is rather stupid. I hate to sound like a raving lunatic. From what I've noticed is that Iraq is just the first step in Bush's plan. I believe that the way things are that we will have to fight wars in Syria, Iran, ect... The reason we would need the draft is that we could still have troops in other places while America continues fighting.

I agree, the draft is nonsense. Me and my friends have been figuring reasonable ways out of it if worse comes to worse ourselves. I have a few mental conditions (i.e. chronic paranoia) that I take medicines for, I'm going to see if I can weasel my way out with that, and if that doesn't work I fully intend to pretend I am flamboyantly gay.

Our troops shouldn't even be in Iraq annymore, let's face it, it's anarchy. We need to get our troops out. They aren't poor over there, they can make their own damned government. We don't need more dead undertrained undersupplied 18 and 19 year olds in the aftermath of the war.
