Nah, killing Haley kinda puts a damper on that whole storyline, since Celia's a pacifist and can't control Belkar... That whole group collapses without her.

Just because I'm not an artist that doesn't mean that I can't tell when paintings aren't anatomically correct, even if I can't tell them exactly how to fix it.

Just because I'm not a webcomic artist that doesn't mean I can't tell most webcomic artists lack anything resembling skill and probably shouldn't have started in the first place, even if I couldn't write their jokes better (though this one I could probably do--Jesus, some of them are terrible)

I mean, I'm not going to stand here and leap down your throat for calling DD bland, or saying that 8-bit theater misses sometimes because you don't have a webcomic. Standing over there and telling other people that they can't judge Burlew's update schedule because they don't have a comic is pretty hypocritical.

It's a stick figure comic about D&D.

I don't think posterity is something we have to worry about.

Oh and she is instantly popular for no reason when she joins a new school...But only when she hooks up with Edward. She's terrible at everything by herself. Remember, this is a series praised for female empowerment.

It's wildly popular among crazy teenager girls and will remain so for quite a while.

Sadly.

more or less my stance. I dont like that he doesn't update regularly, and I honestly do not think he has a legit excuse for not doing so. There are people that DONT draw stick figures that update more often then him.

Is it pure laziness? Probably, but that doesn't change the fact its his work and if he is ok with it stagnating them its his own business.

But dont give me the "he is waiting because he wants to make it great" that doesn't work in this media. Thats perfectly fine when the entire product is released at once, or atleast a large chunk of it. But when you are delivering your product a page at a time, with majority of your pacing reliant on the flow of those pages, waiting does not make it better, it makes it worse. Especially with his four lines all waiting story arc. People have trouble even remembering what the others are doing because its common to go months without seeing them.

Meanwhile, a new theory: Maybe Burlew really doesn't give a shit what people think about him, and can afford to be seen as lazy and unreliable. Speaking only from my limited experience of creative works, I like to think that I only care what people think of the work, not myself, so far as I care what people think at all.

I see your point... Damn people are fickle about their entertainment.

its not so much they are bad, or completely forgotten, but few works ever stand the test of time and become more renowned once they are gone. To put it another way. Take your favorite completed webcomic. Now ask someone who didn't get into webcomics until a year or two after it ended. I'm betting that person doesn't even know it exists.

Webcomics only grow in popularity as they receive updates, once those updates stop influx of new readers drops to near zero. True for most forms of entertainment, its just that webcomics suffer from it in the extreme.

yes but then it isn't know of as a webcomic. Honestly my reply was partly because I couldn't tell if what you said is sarcasm. The reason is I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Those series aren't even vaguely familar and I've never heard them mentioned before. Which ultimately supports my "lack of new readership" statement

More or less I was agreeing with you by saying people are fickle about entertainment. If it doesn't update regularly, regardless of the media, it gets quickly forgotten. Not everything can be a Harry Potter or Twilight.

So you know what I really miss? Is Oddquest.

Masaki-kun 04-14-2009 02:06 PM

So... what's a Hippiemancer do again? Cast "Kumbaya"?

Fifthfiend 04-14-2009 06:43 PM

Hey Masaki your sig is hugetastic. I know how irresistably quoteable I am and all but get it back down to regulation size.

Mesden 04-14-2009 07:22 PM

A good way to do that is, instead of using "quote=name" for your quotes, is to just use quote and /quote tags and then the quotes, like this!

Quote:

Fifthfiend: I like to imagine that there's loads of half-elf half-dwarves all over the place and nobody notices cause they just look like humans.
Kaneda:You need to look beyond mere Nazi super soldiers, and into the possibility of Hitler piloting a Metal Gear. Also giving birth to Ocelot gets to be a button mashing mini game.

MFD 04-14-2009 07:57 PM

Or to skip the quote tags entirely.

Anyways, um. So, V's on his way to Greysky City then. Perhaps they need two resurrections, depending on whether Haley's part dragon or not. I think Haley's part Celestial, if anything, as it's a more direct opposition to Sabine, but we shall see.

Loyal 04-14-2009 10:10 PM

Remind me what caused people to think Haley was anything other than an ordinary human?

Aerozord 04-14-2009 10:13 PM

they are assuming familicide kills someone he cares for. Since his family is alive, and roy is already dead, Haley is the only person left

Mirai Gen 04-15-2009 06:46 AM

What does that have to do with Haley? Or anything for that matter?

MFD 04-15-2009 07:34 AM

There was speculation that Haley was partly a celestial being to be more Sabine's opposite. The dragon stuff comes from Durkon jokingly calling her part-dragon.
