To start with I'm glad Roy realized what a tool he was when he wanted to bang her. IIRC he was still kinda sexist afterwards but at least I could look at him without my eyes rolling out of my head.

Miko was an annoying self-righteous brat who needed to have her sword turned broadside on her ass as a kid once more.

Then she died. And then I felt really sorry for her.

Eh.

It was nothing that she didn't effectively bring on herself. Besides, falling should be a pretty good indicator that, yanno, maybe you should rethink your course of action. But no, still self-righteous, still assholeish, still absolutely convinced that she was right. Hell, she falls and thinks it's a conspiracy against her, and then she sees a crack in the cell and thinks it's a sign from the gods?

Grade A wackjob. Right 'till the end.

I think the throne deserved it's revenge.

I always thought of her as an analog of a real life religious fanatic that is too ignorant to realize "holy war" is an oxymoron

Y'know how there are some characters out there that you, on a subjective level, absolutely despise, but at the same time, you simply can't deny that on an objective level, they're extraordinarily well-written and fully fleshed characters and the author deserves kudos for writing them into existence?

That's how I felt about Miko.

Well, on one hand it's like, you really have to hate her for what she does. She thought she was above the law, same as Shojo. Being the most powerful of the Paladins, her isolation from society (seriously, even reading the books, the girl doesn't have a friend except her horse and it's because she can't lighten the hell up) and even in romance, there's not a thing she can do except boss people around.

But you have to respect the fact that Burlew did make a great character in how she evolves into a killer who still believes she's right. Having the window of redemption slammed in her face, her nearly killing Hinjo, even destroying the gate, I go from feeling sorry for her to hating her for what happened to cause her to be like that.
I really would like to see her return in some sense. Perhaps as a ghost to antagonize Roy while he's still incorporeal.

I kind of felt sorry for her while hating her at the same time. She absolutely believed that she was doing the right thing, so much so that she refused to consider that she could be wrong.

I guess 'tragic' is the word that sums her up the best, in my opinion.

Exactly.

Maybe she could have been a pretty strong woman for the cause if she hadn't spent her entire life believing she was always Right and Special and The Gods Have A Plan For Her. That was exactly why I felt sorry for her.

So who thinks Belkar is going to end up having to kill V?

Like, because it's actually the right thing to do?
