I think the problem is Xykon already stated he was going to kill V to death, and the momentary delay of O-Chuul distracting him gave V enough of an opportunity to escape. But the second that he does anything to reveal his location, Xykon's going to either strip the invisibility or unleash a storm of AOE attacks. Enter the closed door.

Either way, V is screwed.

With his absurd constitution, he might still be alive. He probably fort saved on disintegrate (5d6 if you fort save, and he didn't receive very much in comic damage, so it's probably 10-20 damage total), meteor swarm is more problematic (4 spheres, each 6d6 fir damage a sphere plus 2d6 bludgeoning for getting hit with a sphere directly, which also rules out saving for the fire damage since it's again a direct hit) at at least 32 damage (6d1 four times is 24 damange, 2d1 four times is eight) and a maximum of 192 damage [(36x4) + (12x4).] Average in this case is 112. Lightning bolt is indeed reflex save, which if O-Chul is lucky has only a +1 or +2 from Divine Grace, his charisma being his dump stat. It probably hits for 60.

Assuming O-Chul is around level 13-15 (he's described as the toughest in the sense of hp/withstanding damage paladin, and Miko is 16 or a little higher according to the OOTS people), and he rolled maximum hd on his fighter and paladin levels (both d10) with a con modifier of +5, he should have 225 hitpoints, a staggering amount, but up against Xykon with no magic items he's near done by now (but not dead, no X.X )

Oh damn, you're right. I missed the fire damage for Meteor Swarm. Was wondering why a 9th-level spell did so little damage. Pretty sure he's still alive, too, but not in any capacity to influence things anymore (I can already see myself eating those words come next update). Either way Xykon obviously considers him done with.

As for V, I would be sorely disappointed if a level 25+ lich sorcerer didn't have See Invisibility or True Seeing or anything similar available.

I'm pretty sure this is going to turn out to be the joke of the next comic.

X slays O-Chuul and goes to find V, who hides, and then in the final panel he goes, "Yeah, I'm not a moron, though. True Seeing."

I would be sorely disappointed if he didn't have this permantly. If I remember correctly it can be permancedy.
Or in a cheap item at least.

I see it as Xykon being Xykon - his version of See Invisibility is 'nuke every square inch of the room.'

Well, doesn't interacting with anything break regular invisibility? Or am I thinking second edition?

In 3rd ed using an attack action breaks invisibility, unless you have improved invisibility.
I can't remember how it worked in second edition and we probably changede the rules anyway, like everything else in second ed.

BitVyper 05-26-2009 06:48 PM

Well, to be fair, I haven't really looked at spell definitions in a long time, so I may be way off.

Mirai Gen 05-26-2009 08:44 PM

Wait.

Wait wait wait.

Why did that FCC guy say that if V dies, this whole thing was a waste? That's...intriguing. Cause I know they entered this to right-and-truly damn V but I wouldn't see their desire to keep him alive.

Also for some reason the entire thing seems much more interesting if she's a woman, somehow, I'm not quite sure why.
